So, I cut my own hair. It usually comes our great...but this time I messed up a few different areas. I went to the lady I used to go to and said "Fix it". She asked if I wanted to try something a little different and fun, and I said "what the hell."

She gave me the same haircut as T. I mean, it's literally almost identical. I had NO clue she was going to do that. I actually like it on myself, but I'm completely embarrassed about going to therapy on Monday. I've already told this woman about my feelings for her and now - I have her haircut. It might just be me, but I REALLY feel like she's going to think I'm trying to emulate her...to be her, and it's going to look creepy. I had no intention of ever cutting it like hers, (no secret desire to look like her, or subconscious intention...I didn't even tell the woman what to do...she just did it.) but If I were in her shoes, I think I might think the same thing.

Uuuugh.

Watcha think?

Oops, that's gonna be awkward. Do you have similar hair colors?
I don't think she'll be creeped out though, more like flattered or something.

If you like the cut, I'd say keep it. It's your hair, not her problem.
However, if YOU want to change it a bit, cut some bangs and it will instantly become unrecognisable. Been there, done that.

Hope I helped.

Well, that's the issue...it already kinda has bands with it. It's super short, and not very typical (although I have seen it increasing in popularity recentely) I can't cut it anymore, because I'll be bald LOL it looks almost exactly like this ...

Weird little dilemma...

We both have dark hair (although hers is darker) So I'm thinking maybe I'll add some highlights before my session on Monday...maybe that'll change it up a bit?

I love the look of that haircut! Are you allowed to email your T? If it were me, I'd email her about it so I wouldn't have to worry about that first look she would give me when she saw my hair. Or I'd call and tell her before my appointment so I wouldn't panic! I'm not sure what you could say, though.

Maybe: T, I cut my hair and it looks almost exactly like your hair style. I'm embarrassed about you seeing it because I don't want you to think I cut it just because it's YOUR hair style. Though I like your hair style....

That could be an awkward conversation but I'd want to do it anyway, because it's easier via phone or email. I also think T will be flattered, and not think you're creepy but I can understand your embarrassment and/or fears.
Thanks for this!

I have a longtime friend with that cut. Hair color/streaking would help differentiate your style.

Or just tell T what you told us.

Wow, gorgeous cut! I used to have short hair too, but with shorter side bangs.

Highlights is a good idea, but make sure you're doing this for YOU and not for what she might say.

Oh!You might style it differently than her when you go see her! Maybe like that:

That way you don't have to cut it again!

I think this is a much bigger deal to you than it will be to your T. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

I love this cut! I tried it once but my hair is super curly and if I didn't flat-iron it, well, I looked like Shirley Temple.

I wouldn't worry too much about it being like your T's haircut. She may even ask where you had yours cut.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for your Advice everyone! I'm going to leave it, and just not worry about it. She won't say anything unless I do, she's never commented on my appearance in the entire two years we've known each other...and if it bothers her (which I don't think it will) she'll get over it I figure we'll just ignore the pink elephant in the room ( Like we seem to be doing with my feelings for her) and go on with our session. I haven't felt like "myself" in a while, and this haircut has really helped give me a boost, it really suits me appearance wise as well as personality.

Did you see your T today? How did it go? Did you or she say anything about your haircut?

I did see her, and funny thing - she cut hers differently! lol It's still similar, but hers is a lot shorter than mine and has thick bangs (while mine are wispy and side swept) I did mention getting it cut, and that the stylist just kinda did her thing.... she said "Oh, sweet!" and that's it.

I didn't expect her to compliment me or anything, she never does...although I do admit that a simple "your hair looks nice" or something would have been nice. I know for a fact she never would have said a thing about it if I hadn't. I also wanted to compliment hers , but being as though she didn't say anything about mine, I thought it would have made her uncomfortable.

What do you think that is? A boundary thing? Like she wants to be absolutely sure that she doesn't say anything that could be taken as even remotely inappropriate? A "newbie T" thing maybe?

Or maybe she thinks that because I have feelings for her I might take her compliment to mean something more? (which I wouldn't, although the feelings are there...I think I'm quite grounded about the situation)

hmmpphh.

Maybe she doesn't compliment patients on their looks--sometimes even a compliment can be trigger-y. (She liked my shirt yesterday, why not the new shirt today? etc)

My CBT T is a smart man-- as I work on my weight he is encouraging but never says that I look fitter or I've lost some pounds. He may talk about hard data like the number on the scale or my blood glucose levels. but never ever makes mention of how I look. In my case it may just be a guy thing, treading on eggshells! lol
