I know my feelings are based because it's his job to be supportive, understanding, show interest , be a listener, and makes an effort to improve my confidence and self esteem. I completely realise the logic in this. But I look at him and think "what if?"
It doesn't help that he likes and bought some of my artwork, it doesn't help that he calls me off hours when his practise is closed. |

Awww you are so lucky. He bought your artwork? and calls you off hours? Doesn't this make you so happy? What kind of artwork did he like/buy? Yes, I know what you mean about logic but feelings are valid.

Those sound like red flags to me...what is he talking to you about during off hours? Personal non-therapy things?

Mine must have super tight boundaries, I've been put into a box, one hour each fortnight with no other contact

Same. Absolutely no contact whatsoever. Even scheduling is through other people, like clinic staff.

If it's not related, then you're absolutely right. It doesn't help you. It doesn't help because (it sounds like) this behavior isn't therapeutic. Your time is your time. If he's calling you when not in session, he is invading your personal space. If I'm off base, I apologize but I would advise you to trust your instincts here. |
