My friend is really struggling with love transference towards her therapist and I am quite concerned.
If anyone has any helpful advice, that be mucb appreciated. My friend told me, when she having sex with her partner she imagines at.that time her partner is her therapist. My friend told me she feels that she is going crazy and try to suppressed these feelings and ignored it. I suggested to her, to tell her therapist because they might give her insight. But she too scared too because she told me, she had already told him "That it feels like I love you" but the therapist response sounded.more defences. He said.to her "You don't know me" My friend said that.she understands she doesn't know him. But my friend was trying to say to.her therapist "IT FEELS" So.she knew it wasn't true, but she couldn't understand why she felt that way. Because of his response she self harm herself as well some drama at home. So now she afarid to tell her therapist and unfortunately it has manifested in this. What should she do? I thought to ask here, since I don't really knew what to say at that time. Any Advice |

I'd say that this isn't about the therapist at all and is only what he represents to her. If he cannot guide her through this and attach the bigger meaning and explores where her infatuation comes from, then perhaps it's time to leave him and find someone who can help her.
This is about her. Not him. Not at all. |

sadly, a lot of therapists aren't trained to handle thoughts clients have...loving, etc...such a shame;he should have discussed it with her. All of our feelings are real and should be honored and respected.
