As some of you know already, my dad was taken to the hospital on Thursday afternoon. He has pneumonia and is in critical condition. I went over to see him Thursday, but because I am sick myself I didnt make it there yesterday. I recieved a text from my one sister a bit ago, saying that they put Dad on morphine for comfort. He isn't going to improve.

I took care of Dad for 14 yrs before our falling out. You guys have been there with me thru this all. I did the best I could. Made plenty of mistakes along the way. Haven't talked to him much for the past 2 yrs. But thru that, I still loved him. Still cared about him. He always was and always will be in my heart.

But the days ahead will be hard. Dealing with my siblings and whatever may come . I can feel my mom by me , giving me strength. I think thats the one thing that is getting me thru all this.

If you don't mind, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I'm really going to need you guys . Thank you ahead of time here. As I dont know how busy things will be getting this next week.

Love,
Beth

I'm so sorry.

Don't be second guessing yourself on being able to see him, being sick, how long it's been since you talked to him ect. You have been doing well, and the best you can. No one can do it all. We each have our own life to live, and our own self care is important.

I know that it doesn't take the sting out of losing your last parent... but it will help you not feel worse for the "what ifs?"

My mom's passing only 3 1/2 months ago is still raw for me at times. The realization that I have no parent... that I am the parent... is overwhelming at times... I surely understand all you're going through, and will go through. I hope you do have some family that will work together for the best decisions.

I will give one note of caveat? When mom was in ICU she was on morphine. When we discussed in -hospital hospice, we explicitly voiced the continuation of morphine and they agreed, however when she went into hospice all they gave her was percoset. That only made her groggy and out of her mind, and did nothing for her pain. Because of her pain, they gave her full doses of it, even though my brother was in town and on his way over. She passed before he could get there, due to the underlying issue of not getting any morphine for her pain.

If you can remember, get something like that in writing, and not just on the nurse's notepad.

Loving, caring thoughts are with you.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Bethy}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I'm so sorry, Hon. At this point, though, you need to think of you because his care is under the supervision of others... as he wanted it.

Try to resolve the most painful of the issues if you can. Those unresolved issues is what caused my to literally loose my mind when my mom passed. Everything came crashing down on me.

You and I can talk more about this in private. Be sure that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love you, Hon!
