So I have been told I need to find something to do in the community I am stressing over this cause physically I can't do any of the sports, mentally I could never take a course, so basically I'm left with mediation or art. I sound flippent I know. I think meditation will be good for me cause it will slow me down and make me more reflective and give me more inner peace. Am I right, is that what its like. Please advise if you have been involved in a meditation group. much thanks Lorna

Hi there,

I've never been in a meditation group, but I have done meditation alone and with my T. It was VERY helpful. It allowed me to empty my mind, letting the occasional thought flow by like a fish in a river. Made me feel peaceful and relaxed. I'm not sure if it would be harder to relax being with a large group, but I would definitely give it a try. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for this!

Lorna,

I find art very meditative. Do you like art? Like is there some type of art you prefer, painting, drawing, or ? The brush on the page can be very soothing. You can even have some very meditative tunes or sounds in the background. Even a pencil on paper can be very soothing, choose a pencil about a 3B and a drawing book. Just rub in on the page and if you get one of those neat moldable erasers you can discover what is under the graphite from the pencil. It can be taken anywhere and it can be put down and picked up easily, no mess.

Hunny

hi, lorna,

i've done group meditation and prefer it to solo meditiation which makes me feel lonely. i especially like guided meditations and have recently returned to practicing with a local Tibetan Buddhist group. there are different types of meditation including silent, walking, eating, guided and combinations thereof. meditation takes practice to get right - it's a form of mind training - and it's worthwhile.
