When I was little, i used to go see my mom and grandma sing in church.
My grandpa was a decon, and i used to go alot. When i got older, i didnt think about god much, but when i went to my great grandpas funeral (i didnt even know him), we all got these card things with The Lord's Prayer on it. for some reason i would say it every night, hoping maybe something good would happen, like my mom would come back. (she left my dad, brother and i) Then in about 7th grade, i started seeing her less and less. i thought, maybe there is no god, seeing as he doesnt seem to be listening to me. So i just, gave up. I'm now agnostic. I think weak agnostic. But i hear about all these really big, like, drug addicts and people with difficult lives who "find god" and it sounds releaving. i want to live for something. I want my life to have meaning. and tho im only 16, i feel as if my life never has, and never will have meaning. |

I'm glad to hear that you had success in praying, and suggest you go back to what you know worked before, and expect it to work again. I believe that God is still there waiting for you.

TheTheft, when I was little I used to pray that my dad would come back but he never did. As an adult, I asked a minister why God wouldn't answer the prayer of an innocent child. The minister told me "It wouldn't have been the best for you if your dad came back." Later on, I found out that my dad had abused me and probably would have continued to abuse me had God answered my prayer. God does sometimes say "no" when it's not the best for us. He always does what is best for us.

Wow, that really got to me, in the best way, of course.
I guess that makes sence... My mom is an alcoholic.. And i guess being around that wouldnt have been the best... But at the same time, had she not left and God had brought her back, she wouldnt have been abused by one of her boyfriends. Thats where Im confused... |

Re: Hmmmm
First, I have to see if this ends up in the right place. If it works than I will write what tried to write earlier and it was lost. |

Hi the theft,
I am still trying to figure out how to reply to thread. I do have some insight for you. First, it is important for you to know that up until now you have not been on your own path. You have been on the same path as your parents. This is what Children don't understand. Now, at 16 you need to start your own path and put all the confusion from your parents path away. You are on your own way to discovering life and meaning. So, you are at the beginning of your path, not theirs. I did write you a long advice piece but I couldn't get it posted and I don't know if this will get posted. Im still learning how to use this site |
