Pleae pray that I can endure the current back pain that I have. I am living with the possibility of it always being there. I am very busy with mental health advocacy work and have just found a new venue to challenge my work that is very satisfying to me. After a meeting yesterday, I was in so much pain I could barely move. I need to find the right balance between what I want to do and what I can do.

I have many physical problems that just seem to find me. I live under the proverbial "black cloud" like Snoopy. Heaven help me.
Thanks for this!

Oh wackywidow, back pain is so tiring. My daughter is fighting back pain and went to see a surgeon today and he was too quick with her, he said he wants to try cortizone shots first. So my daughter is going to see him again Friday. I told her to make a list of questions so he can answer them. But she has been in pain since June or July and she was in tears. It is very hard to deal with back pain.

Have you tried shots? Ofcourse I will say prayers, you have had enough burdens.

I have been working hard at reducing my pain, myself. One change I made is using the motorized wheelchair at the dining table, where I do most of my computering also. It gives such wonderful support I find that I can stand up after sitting too long It's just one thing, but if you use various chairs, begin to be picky about where you sit...and use a pillow if needbe.

Thank you all.

I've gone without physical therapy a week now, and am trying to "chill" (professional term by my pain T) to prevent a major pain flare. (I'm taking ashwangandha, using heat and ice, and trying to not watch any news or weather...)

PT tomorrow!

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I do understand back pain too so you are not alone. Do keep us informed with how you are feeling. We do care. Sending you many gentle hugs and loving thoughts. Always.

[quote=wackywidow;2076403]ove. I need to find the right balance between what I want to do and what I can do.

I deal with that all the time as well. My head wants to do everything and must think my body is still 25 and with no issues! LOL..When I am feeling good, I am on the run,....like to go to breakfast and shopping etc....then of course I overdue and pay for it for two days.

Same with cleaning..I get this desire to clean so I do and then for another two days I am down again.Well at least the apartment is clean.

Its hard to know what is right for us. I know there are other factors like the weather that are in the equation. No way to always know what is right for us except to do it. You have to admit though that none of us here are quitters!

I am glad you are working with mental health advocacy. I am a little involved with arthritis advocacy and plan after my next hip to get more involved. We all need to have a passion and a purpose.

Hope that back settles down some!

Have a happy day;
Dee

The idea that it would always be there would weigh more heavily on me, in think, than the pain itself. What a horrible prospect!
Like the others, I am so sorry. For an on-the-go person like you, slowing down will be perhaps the greatest challenge youve had.

The pain will have to serve as your instructor. As you add an event to your calendar, you will have to stop, imagine what the event will entail for you, put in context of what else you did that day and the day before as well as what's on tap for the days coming up. Only then can you firmly commit to something. Or--possibly--send your regrets.

Prayers & best thoughts .

When I found it rather hard to walk or get up anymore I got a cane. I know ... but it does help.
I was lucky enought to have an artistic friend carve me one.
It does takes lots of pressure off my back.

Missbelles's advice is 'right on' too.

I sure hope you find relief soon!

Hurting update: The back is slowly healing but now I am faced with the removal of part of my thyroid gland on Dec 19th. The doctors will not know how invovled it will be until they get into the surgery which right now is expected to be 3 hours long. I am confident that all will go well but need your prayers and well wishes.
