I am here to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. And I like to read The Far Side Gallery. It all seems so insignificant when I read it. I feel like John Lennon every day anyhow though.

Hello,

I think it's interesting that hardly anyone believes that mankind was created here on earth with a specific purpose. I have studied the Bible have learned SO MANY answers to my questions. . .such as "Why was man created?, What is our Purpose,? Why does God allow suffering?" "What happens when we die?" "Are all religions approved by God," "Is There a Hope for the Future?", etc.

If anybody in this thread would like to know the Bible's answer to any of the questions I mentioned above, please PM me and state which questions) you would like to find the answer to, along with your mailing address. I would be very happy to send you a booklet free of charge that will take you to your own copy of the Bible to find the anwers.
Thanks for this!

Good question. I didn't want this to turn into a religious debate at all, but I don't believe we are here just to serve God. I believe in God and I believe we have a purpose, just not sure where I fit though. This was a spiritual question of what our being here is not a religious one.

Develop a connection with all there is. We are all part of the universe and all its powers.

That is a wonderful thought. It is hard to connect though when your mind constantly wanders. Focus is the hardest thing to do for me. But when things are quiet I let myself go, and for just a split second I can feel the power of the universe. But after that moment is gone, I am off searching again. Does that make any sense?

Meditation may help. Focus on what is going on within first, for the unverse is also found within you as well.
Thanks for this!

You know I have tried that? Meditation is sooooo hard!!! I just sit there and my mind wanders. What I would give to shut it up!! Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it

I agree that the universe can be found within me, and within us all. I believe that wholeheartedly.

The meaning of life is a philosophical question concerning the significance of life or existence in general. It can also be expressed in different forms, such as "Why are we here?", "What is life all about?", and "What is the purpose of existence?" It has been the subject of much philosophical, scientific, and theological speculation throughout history. There have been a large number of proposed answers to these questions from many different cultural and ideological backgrounds.

The meaning of life is in the philosophical and religious conceptions of existence, social ties, consciousness, and happiness, and borders on many other issues, such as symbolic meaning, ontology, value, purpose, ethics, good and evil, free will, the existence of one or multiple Gods, conceptions of God, the soul, and the afterlife. Scientific contributions focus primarily on describing related empirical facts about the universe, exploring the context and parameters concerning the 'how' of life. Science also studies and can provide recommendations for the pursuit of well-being and a related conception of morality. An alternative, humanistic approach poses the question "What is the meaning of my life?" The value of the question pertaining to the purpose of life may coincide with the achievement of ultimate reality, or a feeling of oneness, or even a feeling of sacredness. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meaning_of_life
Hello, PlatinumHear. As you can see, the questions you ask have puzzled many throughout the millenniums. Multitudes have stepped up to share their perceptions of the whys and wheres.

Psychology Today has a section devoted to: The Big Question: Why Are We Here? "Why am I here on Earth? It can be a passing thought or a question that launches a full-on existential exploration. Having a sense of meaning and purpose in life is usually a positive motivator, at home and at work. But maybe the questioning itself is where life's true mission is found... " The section has many contributors.

Rick Warren gives a TED talk on a life of purpose here: http://www.ted.com/talks/rick_warren...f_purpose.html I enjoyed the talk but smiled upon its completion. The many aptitude tests I have taken tell me I am in the forty to sixty range on a scale of zero to one hundred in all ten categories. I scored highest at being a bookkeeper or a clerk. Yet, I have never been good at numbers.

So, it seemed to me it did not matter much what I did. Helen Keller helped me: “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”

I tried to do something I could do.

God can be what ever higher power you may choose. I was not trying to fuel a religious debate.

For me, personally, I think I'm here to prepare myself for the next journey after physical death. When we die our energy is transformed. We still exist, but in another form and possibly in another plane of existence. Since humanity is so fragile and mortal, I think when I die I will go some place where I'm not so fragile and mortal. I think while I'm here on the earthly plane I'm supposed to learn what it means to be part of humanity and accept physical death. Depending on how well I learn my lessons determines where I go after I die physically. And one of the most important lessons to learn is about love and tolerance. I don't pay attention to Hollywood much. I think they're corrupt. I don't think it's healthy to identify with celebrities. It's much better to identify with your family, friends, community, the world. Hollywood is manufactured and illusion. I think it's better to deal with real people in your life. Hollywood is illusion and entertainment. I don't envy other people or look down on other people no matter what station they are in life. I know that life is ephemeral and that I can go at any moment, so I try to live in the moment and take it one day at a time. Some days are better than others. But counting my blessings helps. If I'm alive and physically healthy and have a roof over my head and people that love me and live in a country that believes in me, I feel very fortunate. There are over 7 billion people in this world and billions of them don't have access to clean water or medical care. I think to myself, imagine if I were one of those people living in a country like that with my mental illness, I would probably be dead by now. So when I feel lost or feeling down then I count my blessings and remember just how many people (billions) have far less. So don't pay attention to Hollywood. Just take care of you and the people in your life day in and day out. Peace.
