Hi.
I want to believe in God, Jesus and the bible, and i do try. But there is always a doubt in my heart that it might all be a farce. I mean i've not been brought up to believe, infact quite the opposite, i have been brought up to believe that none of the above existed and religion is for losers. But i myself find a kind of ... It's hard to explain, but i think safety in religion that helps me cope. However i have also been told that if you do not believe 100% in your heart, you will never make a good christian. I don't know what to do, i don't even know why i'm posting this. I guess i just wanted to get it out of my head and written down somewhere. Sorry peeps. Tc x

Sammy - it REALLY is hard to believe something, especially when you've been taught to believe otherwise. (I know the feeling, I was essentially not led to believe that everything was a farce as religion was concerned, but that it was irrelevant.)
Building a solid foundation of your beliefs starts off with the simple wish to work at it. (Which you are doing) I think that just that fact you're putting in the effort is a good step in the right direction - we're not supposed to be perfect it's the effort that counts. (as far as my opinion is anyways) Take care of yourself.

If YOU want to believe.... then NEVER give up and always allow room for the Holy Spirit to lead.
....... Believing will happen in time to those that are called according to His word. LoVe, Rhapsody - P.S. And know that by posting your doubts YOU have already taken the first step toward believing. |

The more you know, the more you understand, the easier it will be to believe.
Maybe starting with a Bible class? A class that focuses on God's love rather than hell and damnation. Everything is a journey. Sounds like you're just starting yours. Blessings! ![]()

Sammy,
The desire to believe is the seed that faith starts out from. If you choose, you can nurture that seed and feel it grow and become strong. I agree about that feeling of safety. It is a matter of feeling, and trusting what you feel, and that when it feels good inside, that is evidence that it is real and that it is good. Rap
