I've wondered about past lives a lot. I feel like I've lived before, and I feel strongly drawn to very specific cultures that I've never come into contact with in this life. I'm very drawn to China for some reason, and there have been many different, isolated instances in my life when I've had people tell me that they heard me speaking what sounded like Chinese in my sleep. One person that heard me actually speaks Mandarin and she confirmed that I was speaking Mandarin. At that time, I had never been exposed to the language. So I'm just curious, does anyone here believe in past lives?

I believe that there's a whole lot more going on than we know. I believe that there's something...some kind of energy, soul, or spirit that lives on through various incarnations.

No.

But humans are energy and nothing destroys energy. The spirit is eternal (that which is called energy) and may be able to influence a person open to what they believe is having lived before, imo.

I personally block that energy as I find it negative and draining, and feed from the Source which is, to me, God Almighty.

I do not believe in past lives or life after death from an intellectual stand point, but I occasionally feel truth in past life, and I will always hope for reincarnation.

Yes I do..we all come into this world with a soul and purpose. Have you ever been somewhere or been in a situation that you swear you have seen before? It keeps me going..

I don't personally believe that, but I think it's possible. Anything is possible.
I kinda hope not, though, cause IMO, 1 lifetime is plenty for me!!

I don't think it's likely, but it's possible.

I think that this is the only life we have, although the matter that composes our bodies is recycled. That is "reincarnation", in a way.

It does feel like I have lived before, but I not absolutely convinced.

Ever since childhood I have felt an innate connection with Ireland. It feels like a part of me comes from there, that I once walked the land. My mother feels the same way. Her ancestors immigrated to Canada from there in the early 1800s. I believe people feel a deep connection with lands their ancestors have left years and even eons ago.

It's been said that we are eternal spiritual creatures who, from time to time, choose to have a physical experience.

For me, the definitive work on reincarnation was done by Dr. Brian Wiess, in his book "Many Lives, Many Masters". Dr Wiess is a VERY conservative, conventionally trained and widely published psychologist who avoided the subject of reincarnation like the plague. One day he was using regressive hypnosis on a patient (a young lady in her 20's) in an attempt to find the source of a persistent pain in her abdomen. She had previously been examined by several other medical doctors who could find nothing wrong, and who had told her the pain was psychosomatic. After exploring her childhood, trying to identify some early trauma that could be the cause of the pain without any results, Dr Wiess told her to "go to the source of the pain". Immediately, she was a soldier in the trenches if WWI being bayoneted in the stomach. She was cured of the stomach pains, but continued her sessions with Dr Wiess. Ultimately she was able to recall more than 80 previous lives.

If you have an interest in the subject, I highly recommend the book which is available thru B&N. It's a great read and very informative.

I have such a hard time believing in stories like this; to me, it's the equivalent of someone claiming to have seen God. But, how do we really even know? How? There's just so much unknown...And there's so much that I can't explain! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out
Thanks for this!

It's odd you say that, because I too feel a connection to Ireland, and I have some roots that go back to there.

I've never traveled there myself, but when I see photos of the landscape it feels very familiar, like that "home" feeling that follows when you get back to where you recognize after going on a trip. It's easy to shrug it off and chalk it up to rural areas having a natural yet lived in appearance, but I live in a rural area now and I don't identify with it as feeling like home.

I don't know, but there is a lot of evidence to support reincarnation

It's been a long time since I read that book, but I'll also throw in a recommendation for it. It was very interesting, even though I don't remember a lot of it. I liked it, though.

Yes, it can sound like fantasy, but there are many documented cases of persons under hypnosis and young children who recall snippets of past lives, which are later verified through public records, gravestones, ancestral records, etc.

I actually think it's more intriguing to ponder what a soul or spirit actually does BETWEEN lives. We certainly don't float around on a puffy little cloud playing a harp, or whatever. Researchers hadn't paid much attention to this subject until Dr Michael Newton ( founder of the Newton Institute ) developed a protocol for accessing the superconscience mind. It is the gateway to the spirit world and our souls. I recommend his book "Journey of Souls" and a follow-up book, "Destiny of Souls". There are also a number of YouTube videos of interviews....search for Michael Newton.
Thanks for this!

Sometimes I believe in past lives. I spend a lot of time telling myself that I'm crazy and that my experiences are just delusion. But there's a lot of evidence to suggest that's not the case. Or perhaps its all just a massive coincidence that everything fits together so well. I really hope that's the case because if it's true, I'm ****ed beyond belief.

I've believed in reincarnation since I was about 13 years old and my cousin first broached the subject. He had more of a 'jacob's ladder' of experiance type idea...where we'd learn something from each life as we traveled toward the ultimate goal of 'heaven'.

I've since altered this based on my life and people I've known, things I've done or not, etc but the basics remain true to me. With one rather big difference: Since ancient times, humans have often considered life was much like a game of chess...the comparison has been seen in many books, poems etc all thru history and I totally went for that..but I've changed it a bit, and it was because of a rock. I told a friend I did not want to come back as a rock (as Buddists believe is possible) and she said, 'Why not? What makes you think a rock isn't important in the scheme of things?' the proceeded to point out how influential it could be to pick up a stone which will then remind you of something, good or bad that could affect your life...not to mention it's obvious uses as a weapon in the event you were attacked...basically, everything in on the earth, in the world has an affect on the human experiance, whether alive or static.

Not only that, it was further theorized, that every 'thing' or 'person' could have their own 'chess board' which would interact with others...sort of a 3D, treky chess board..so whatever move I make will affect others on different levels depending on where they are on their level. Somewhat like the so-called 'butter-fly' affect but without the assumption ALL moves affect everyone or everything.

This theory does leave the implication of both 'god' and 'satan', if one disputes the edict of random....as chess masters, the game is between them, with everything in play, and each move meant to be in persuit of the 'win'.

I found the idea facinating and with few disagreements, I decided it was as good a theory as any, and also proved to me the idea I'd long held that everything happens for a reason....this based on looking backward from an event to discover what and who was responsible for the conception and gestation of the event itself. 'Remembering' people you meet for the first time? This is explained because lives are linked and replay in different versions for different moves on the board...one may have a residual memory of someone they were with in a previous 'game' although actual memory is dimmed by the time between moves...and time is not linear in this case...yet another thing to wrap the mind around. lol

I just love the idea of it, and actually hope it's true. Otherwise...with as many people as there are in the world, and many more of the 'good' variety than the bad, heaven would be packed.

Totally agree! While I don't really believe in it, the concept of reincarnation is far more appealing to me than any other afterlife idea. When my time finally comes I will probably find myself believing in it a bit more out of the hope that it is true.

I found it interesting to learn that past life regression is illegal in some areas.
