That woman upset me. She described the death in vivid detail, from beginning to end - including all the pain. I could only imagine Natalie's parents watching that program and screaming for their daughter to come home. It's not very cool or entertaining to me. I'm not entertained by other people's train wrecks. |

I missed that show. however they did a show on my daughter's bosses daughter the first season. that woman screamed all kinds of stuff during their investigation and it really unnerved her parents to say the least. the one guy John though is said to be very good at what he does. the other one Patrick is my friend. he is pretty cool though.

We've had a mom missing since May around here. They suspect the husband of murder. Her two kids and family miss her TERRIBLY - TERRIBLY. So does the whole community. She stayed with an abusive husband in order to protect her children.
They had a psychic come out and everyone stopped the search to focus on the psychic. News broke that she led them to some bones in the woods. Everyone's heart jumped into their throats. They were later told it was just old deer bones. Back to square one....and they were given such hope from the psychic on her location. Really sad. Does that sound very entertaining....something to drop out of life for to tune into? |

I try to look at it as more like....more information, more awareness. the more people that sees it may know something more. much like america's most wanted. look what that show has done. but we are getting off the topic again

I saw part of that show. Some police departments do use psychics, but I can't say how often it turns up anything or solves a case. I would think it must do it a lot, though, considering that they say a lot of police depts. use them.
I think a lot of so-called psychics are just able to fool people or make good guesses (or even not good guesses...many keep talking until they guess something that sounds right to the client, even if it's vague). Oh, yeah, and as for the ghosthunting shows...I have only seen one or two specific shows, at least that I can remember at the moment, and only a few episodes. Ghost Hunters is one of them. That show does not convince me in the least of any ghosts. I'm not saying they aren't really seeing or experiencing ghosts or supernatural phenomena, but when a team member goes, "Did you see that?" and I saw nothing on camera, it doesn't show me anything. One guy said the chandelier was swinging in an episode, and the drawers had come out on their own. But it wasn't swinging on camera, and anyone could have pulled the drawers out. Even if I'd seen it, I admit, I'd be skeptical; special effects aren't that hard to create to cause some of the simpler ghost-y effects. And when they show me a digital thermometer saying the temperature dropped, that can be faked, too. No, I didn't feel the temperature drop (or raise). If they did something more convincing, I'd be more convinced. Again, I'm not saying they're not really experiencing anything; it's just not thrilling me. And, without getting into debate, I will hold my tongue on the religious stuff as long as it doesn't come up again, but when someone talks about their God (and, capitalized, doesn't just mean the god of the Bible...other religions use a capitalized God, too), especially quoting from their text as if others should accept it as truth, offends many people who aren't of that faith. I feel I have to speak up for myself and those others.

this is off topic but I started the thread so I wan't to say this. lol anyway I am a ghost hunter. although skeptically so but I do think there are spirits. I have seen things happen that have no logical explanation. I think at times or most times those ghost shows like ghost hunters could be rigged somewhat. I can give you websites to check out though

I believe ghosts may be real (and spirits, psychic phenomena, etc.), but I'm just skeptical about each claim. I believe that, just because there's no logical explanation, doesn't mean it's ghosts, the supernatural, magick, God, etc. I have some websites, too, but I'm interested in yours, bebop, because I like to collect good ones (and good sites for certain topics, in general). Thanks!
Wait, wait: Look, I'm psychic! I predict...Bebop will share URLs with us soon. ![]()

Bebop
We have a cemetery out here in Chicago that is famous for "ghosts," and people travel there all the time to get a thrill. During the 60s, it was trashed by teenagers out on a dare or to get high and make out. Some of them even tried to dig up the graves. They also turned over and crushed some of the headstones, and vomited on the graves. To this day the place is still a big draw, and it's still a mess. It's just a cemetery. I take it personal because I might be near the end of my life (terminal illness). I'd really like to be buried out in the middle of nowhere, but I'll probably end up near family. I look forward to having my friends and family "visit" me. If I'm out in the middle of nowhere and a little kid stumbles across my grave in peace, I'll be ticked pink to have a chat with him/her IF it's possible - as long as he/she is respectful to me as they would be to their own grandmother. However, if curious onlookers, rowdy teenagers, daredevils or ghost hunters show up I'll be REALLY angry. I'm not a spectacle. I'm a human being. I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I'm a sister. I'm a friend. I like my privacy. I'd like to rest in peace without any cameras trying to pry up my dress or dig in my closet. Awareness of spirits is fine with me, but certain lines shouldn't be crossed. I don't want to end up being just a segment on a TV program or summer camp activity - or strip-tease artist for thrill-seekers. My family wouldn't appreciate it either. They also wouldn't appreciate strangers writing fantasy stories about me and saying they know me. They also wouldn't appreciate having to relive the agony of my death and their loss in order to "bring awareness" of death and the afterlife. You're right. This is just my opinion, but it's my heart and soul we're talking about - it's mine. Now don't you have some flowers to pollinate or something, Busy Bee? ![]() |

I don't mind you calling me that at all. I am sorry about your illness. I have a church friend right now that only has a couple of more weeks at best. I hunt to try to prove to others there is life after death and that spirits really exist. We mean no harm at all. I would never bring media of any kind into what we do. never!

I believe that there are spirits, and that we continue on after this life. I believe that spirits can communicate with us if we are receptive. I believe that some people are more attuned to communicating with spirits than others. I wouldn't take what a psychic says at face value though. Some might be the real thing, but I'm sure there are lots of fake psychics out there too. Also, I think that if a spirit wanted to talk to someone, they would be more likely to try to talk directly to that person, not through someone else. I also believe that there are other spirits, and some of them are not benign, and psychics might not know if they are being deceived by a spirit that is not who he or she claims to be.

Kathy, that's one of my issues with those Salem witch tours, and similar things like them. There are tours to see the graves of accused witches, places they died, and whatnot, and people often forget--these were real people who were almost certainly accused falsely, and were tortured and put to death for it. To make them "entertainment" is degrading and disrespectful.

I believe spiritual people can talk and maybe hear from "the dead." Both kinds of spiritual people... good and not so good.
The Bible tells us that the rich man in hell spoke to God and asked that the prophets be sent to his family so they wouldn't suffer the torment he was suffering. He could also see across the gulf to what was then paradise. God created everything for good. That this power is there means, to me, that it's open for use by anyone. Myself, having part of God, the Holy Spirit, dwell within me means that power is within me, too. Whether God allows me to utilize it or not I guess is up to whether I am ready or can handle it??? My point is this: if someone has such power, it comes from God, originally, and is in the universe for use. What they do with it is up to them. People who are Godly, will use everything they have for God. Those who are not Godly, well, they can't use anything they have for God, but He can use it through them if no Christian rises to the challenge. I guess it depends upon Whom does it edify? If it edifies us, then it's wrong. If it edifies God, it's good. ![]()

![]() ![]() One thing I do know is that Scripture says no one can "cross over" from one place to the other. Interesting that a certain psychic uses that term..for his show title I think? I am limited in my sensing, yet it might be more than the "average" person? I attribute it to the Holy Spirit, yes, but also because of my native american heritage and the ability to sense auras and other's energies (as to whether good or evil.) My own energy field can go out about 20' when I am excited (positively or negatively.) Now how that would compare to someone reading another's future or past ![]() I do believe (and I think I posted this?) that anyone can know another's past, as both God and Satan know what has already happened. Satan does not know the future, only God does. However, as someone mentioned, I also believe in what is called in quantum physics the "observer effect." This is where what you want to see will be what you see and what actually happens. "Intention" is a modern word for it too, imo. Bebop, if I've strayed from your original intent, my apologies. ![]()

Well, the Bible says God created everything, for those who follow the Bible. That includes evil, but my point doesn't have to do with God creating evil. Or maybe it does...because any tool that can be used for good can be used for evil. The Bible says God gives people free will, so you have a choice to use your gifts, talents, skills, as well as material things in the world, and power (most of all), for good or evil. And some with the gift of psychic abilities use them for one or the other, perhaps some somewhere in-between, if such persons exist at all. Most definitely, there are people with a different gift--the gift of being good at deceiving and conning--who use that to selfish and evil means. I think deception and trickery can be used for good--such as to catch bad people, but again, you choose how you use your gifts.

Aha - found this thread!
Hi Bebop I just watched an episode of Rescue Mediums. Have you seen any of their programs? It was about a woman named Rhonda Wilson who had gone missing 3 years ago. The mediums described her death and pinpointed the location of her body - an exact spot out in the woods. They went on to draw a likeness of this woman's killer. I was SOOOO hoping to hear a follow-up at the end - confirmation from the police they found the body, maybe even a lead on the suspect. Instead, the medium and innkeepers just hugged and congratulated themselves for what they discovered. One of them light-heartedly joked about her career by saying "Have spirits, will travel" - basically patting herself on the back. I just searched on the internet to see if the case had been solved, but I only came across references to the show - no real news of this missing person named Rhonda Wilson. http://www.novanewsnow.com/article-1...cal-ghost.html The article makes it sound like she's just a legendary ghost. They even go so far as to say they hope it will bring in tourists to come and look for ghosts too. Since the episode was originally shot in June, I'm assuming the mediums were wrong about the location of her body. If they had been right, it would have provided the tourism opportunity the town was looking for in the first place. What do you think about this program? |

I think MOST psychics are fake. However, there are people out there that can get a feeling for others. I think more psychic gifts (for lack of a better term) are linked with family and close friends. The tool can be used for good or evil. I believe in God and I believe God created only good, however, humanity knew evil and some chose to embrace evil. The same goes for this tool given to some people. Some use it for good, some for evil. I have had psychic experiences with the future and past and I have seen ghosts, but I have never talked to one. I thought I heard one speak to me once and I was right when I conveyed the message to a person. These things happen and there's an explanation (the truth is out there!), but we have yet to understand it.
