i ask myself, in what way can spirituality be used to bring peace and healing and a coming together in understanding?

I believe by accepting people of all faiths, on all levels... an attitude of tolerance and acceptance is the way and will allow an opening to communication...

with communication, all things are made possible..

Between Muslim and Jew, Christian and Muslim, Mystic and Independant .. we can find a way to solve the issues that separate...

thank you Danialla..

What is tolerance? It is the consequence of humanity.
We are all formed of frailty and error; let us pardon reciprocally each other's folly - that is the first law of nature.

The word "tolerance" doesn't seem enough. I tolerate a cold, but I jump at the chance to destroy the little bugs responsible for the virus. The word "acceptance" seems too much. I can fit only so much into my home, and I'd rather get to know someone first before inviting them into my home.

Therefore I'm not really sure what these two words mean. I don't really care about being tolerated or accepted by others. I'd prefer to be treated equally and with respect, as a human being.

I think people use religion in order to give themselves "super-human" power. I refer you to the great profit, Jim Hendrix (hehe). He said "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."

like this one better KathyM?

Let us not speak of tolerance. This negative word implies grudging concessions by smug consciences.
Rather, let us speak of mutual understanding and mutual respect.
