My youngest brother, Mark, took his own life in his garage one day. I don't believe for a second that he is burning in hell. Hope this helps!
Best regards,

Dottie

I Corinthians 1:12 talks about 'wood, hay, and stubble' ... the chapter refers to those who believe but don't always do good for God. The good stuff is like gold and precious metals that when placed under fire are purified and made stronger and good. The not so good stuff burns up like wood hay and stubble. It isn't talking about works for salvation, but works done after belief in God. It also talks about those who are not strong in Christ, but weaker and still as though on "milk" like a baby in the faith.

It shows that not everything someone does is good, nor in the will of God. But that it doesn't affect his or her salvation. This shows that the not so good stuff that we do or allow gets burned up, and therefore is worthless for God. It happens. We are all human. I think a believer who bails out of life through such an act "just" adds more wood to the pile.

I find that statement cruel and judgemental.

Logden, I wonder if the way you took that was not the way Sky intended it. I think that some people might interpret that scripture as the good people being the gold and precious metals, and the wood, hay, and stubble being bad people. But that wasn't how Sky meant it. She's talking about good works, and not so good works that people do. So the way I understand her point is that your good works will stand like gold and precious metals, while anything else you do will burn away like wood in the fire. So she isn't judging people who commit suicide, rather she is saying that their good works will stand and the rest of what they have done will burn away.

None of us are perfect, and who are we to judge anyone? In the end we will all be refined, and the good in us will be purified.
