Joy doesn't come with a faucet
where we can turn it off
or on at leisure
nor should we try
Joy is the deep spring
of living water
that bubbles up
in the hearts of those
who believe God's promises
and it is good.

Salt.
It's a great curative,
though when rubbed in a wound
it burns terribly
but it heals
and kills infection

It also adds flavor
to food/sustenance
it improves the experience
of eating

The salt on the food
still helps heal
while it's improving
the taste, result

Those that love God
have been considered to be
salt of the world
how we choose to use
this attribute
is up to us.

Salt at times has been used as currency,
it was so rare and valuable.
It has been given as a gift, also.

The early fisherman could never have
provided a living by fishing
if it weren't for salt to
keep their catch from spoiling.

Funny thing about salt, though.
It is only useful
when it's in direct contact
with it's medium.

God is just fine
knowing
you have to have Him
to live a good life.

Shed your guilt,
and self condemnation
from when you can't do
something on your own.

Without God my life would be empty. All I have and ever will have, all I have accomplished or ever will accomplish....all are given as gifts from God. I am thankful for His many blessings!

I think this is my favorite thread. I don't usually comment because I don't have anything that would be as good as the thoughts that Sky is posting, but I want to say that these thoughts touch me. Am I really a bad example, or am I just salt? We need salt, just not a huge amount of it.

I haven't seen this thread before, but I love the idea of a place where we can share our thoughts for the day.

Here is a poem I really like. It's inspires me to want to really live.

Self Protrait

It doesn’t interest me if there is one God
or many gods.
I want to know if you belong or feel
abandoned.
If you know despair and can see it in others.
I want to know
if you are prepared to live in the world
with its harsh need
to change you. If you can look back
with firm eyes
saying this is where I stand. I want to know
if you know
how to melt into that fierce heat of living
falling toward
the center of your longing. I want to know
if you are willing
to live, day by day, with the consequence of love
and the bitter
unwanted passion of your sure defeat.
I have been told, in that fierce embrace, even
The gods speak of God.

The breath of God flows through
the believer.
It can also flow through the
believer to another.
One way this can be is
by the spoken word.

God spoke creation into being.

Both the science of psychology
and quantum physics show
that we, too, have such power.

Cognitive behavior therapy
allows us to prove to our own selves
that by changing our thinking,
(what we tell ourselves)
we change our feelings and
our situation itself.

Quantum physics proves through
the observer effect
that what we believe will happen,
what we think we will see
(what we tell ourselves)
is what happens.

There are many idioms and pithy sayings
regarding how powerful is the tongue-
the spoken word.

Being aware of the power of the word,
and mindful of what we are creating
when we speak,
is an important part of worshipful living.

Pigeon or Dove?

Though they are in the same family,
they are not at all the same.
The pigeon is aggressive,
and noisy.
The dove is quiet, and shy.
The pigeon mates with several,
the dove, only one for life.
The pigeon loves a crowd,
the dove flies at any startle.

Is it any wonder that God used
the dove to depict the Spirit?

i have marveled at Gods beauty in all things everywhere Sky, yes, the Dove is certainly a good symbol for Gods Love and Goodwill imo... while shopping i've noticed how often there are depictions of eagles everywhere around me, the eagle being more agressive than the dove also... the dove is somewhat comparable to the lamb as a symbol is it not? Who hasn't come across someone
who writes things on their hand
to remember them?
Perhaps you do this yourself!

Often, it's someone's name,
so they won't forget it.
It's important.

Did you know that
God has your name
written on His hand?

You're important to Him,
and He won't forget you.

No person among us desires any other reward
for performing brave and worthy action,
but for the consciousness of having
served his nation.
Mohawk

We can all be good citizens; military
service is not required to do that.
Recycling, obeying speed limits, and
picking up trash not your own are all
such actions of a good citizen.

Today, though, we honor those who do
serve our Country in the military,
and thank them for keeping us free. Thought for today
