http://www.linsdomain.com/totems.htm

So, I found this website I'm afraid to say the lady who runs it reeks of con artist...but the info is very interesting... aparently according to the person you have several totems that guide you throughout your life (way different then the traditional belief of only one or a couple) I mostly came here to check out the pages for the different animals and look up their information.

I don't know my totem animal, but I certainly have my strong ituition as to what animal(s) they might be, so I thought about looking them up.

Here is the info she put down for them:

Deer:

Gentleness and Innocence
Deer teaches us to use the power of gentleness
to touch the hearts and minds of
wounded beings who are in our lives.

Don't push towards change in others,
rather gently nudge them in right direction
with the love that comes from a Deer totem.

When a Deer totem shows up in your life,
a new innocence and freshness in about to be awakened.
There is going to be a gentle lure of new adventures.
There will be an opportunity to express the gentle love
that will open new doors for you.

Fox:

Magic, Shapeshifting, Invisibility
Fox are seen as totems throughout the world:
the Chinese believed they could take human form,
in Egypt the fox brought favor from the gods,
there was a fox god in Peru,
foxes help the dead get to the next life in Persia,
Cherokees, Hopi other American Indian tribes
believed in its healing power;
the Apache credited the fox with giving man fire.

Since the fox lives "between times" --
on the edge of land, visible as dusk and dawn, and can guide the way to the Faerie Realm.

A fox can teach you to control your aura so that you can be more in harmony
with others and the world.

If you have a fox totem, learning to be invisible is very important in your life.
Imagine yourself blending in with your surroundings, becoming part of the background.
Be very still and quiet.

Through practice you can be unnoticed even at a party or in a crowd.

I have an acquaintance who used this power to evade several muggers;
he stood there in plain sight next to a building ,
and blended himself into the wall;
they did not see him and left without harming him. It can be done!

A fox totem also teaches good eating habits;
the fox eats small amounts frequently which medicine is now telling us is better for our health

But fox people already knew this.

The fox is a wonderful totem to have.

Fish:

Independence, Potential, Adaptation

Fish can teach us to adapt to all environments;
they can teach us to streamline our lives;
they can give us protection when we need it;
and connect us to the creative element of life: water.

A Fish swimming down symbolizes the involution of spirit,
while a Fish swimming up is the evolution of the spirit.
They reveal the strength of the currents of our lives and see clearly in the murky waters of the future.

When Fish entered your life as a Totem, it will often signal one of the senses
being awakened: visions, prophetic dreams, or clairaudience is possible.
There will be greater contact with the spiritual realm.

(Salmon)

An increased ability to get a "feel" for others -- especially in healers.
Salmon brings the opportunity for a pilgrimage or the clarity to a one that we have been on.
This spiritual journey will transform us and life will never be the same.

Butterfly:

Transmutation, Dance of Joy

The butterfly is the symbol of change, joy and color.
It is the symbol of the soul.

They remind us that life is a dance,
not to take things quite so seriously.
They also remind us to get up and move.
Dance brings the sweetness of life.

Butterflies bring color and joy to your life.
Look at them and remember what joy is in your life,
if its a lot or a little, it is still joy.

They teach us that growth and transformation does not have to traumatic;
it can occur gently, sweetly, joyfully.

If a butterfly totem has shown up in your life,
make note of the most important issues in your life,
and see what needs to be changed.

Wolf

Intuition, Learning, Spirit

This totem brings faithfulness, inner strength
and intuition when he enters our lives.
But he also brings learning to live with one's self.
The wolf teaches us to learn about our inner self
and to find our inner power and strength.
But to achieve this, we must take risks
and face our deepest fears.
A wolf totem demands sincerity.

This totem demands a lot of us
but gives us much in return;
a spirit helper that is always there to help
and gives us extraordinary powers of endurance.
He reminds us to listen to our inner thoughts
and trust our insights.

They remind us not to waste resources and
to learn how to avoid trouble and confrontations.
People with Wolf totems have the capacity to make quick and firm emotional attachments.
Trust your insights about these attachments. Wolf will guide you.
Take control of your life with Wolf’s help and do so with harmony and discipline.

Cat:

Mystery, Magic and Independence

A cat totem encourages agility in both body and mind.
You will be challenged with new ideas and places.
The cat gives you clearer perception.

This spirit helper is resourceful, strong and fearless.
It will give you courage and confidence.

Examine the colors, character and behaviors of your Cat.
Everything about it will reflect in your own life.

When a Cat becomes predominant in your life,
magic and mystery come alive.

Associated with the Norse Goddess of Fertility Freyja
and the Hindu Goddess of Childbirth, Shasthi
and of course, the Egyptian Goddess Bastet who takes the form of a cat.

Raven:

Magic, Healing, Creation

If a raven totem has come into our life,
magic is at play.

Raven activates the energy of magic
and links it to our will and intention.

With this totem, we can make great changes
in our life;
the ability to take the unformed thought
and make it reality.

The raven shows us how to go into the dark
of our inner self and bring out the light of our true self;
resolving inner conflicts which have long been buried.
This is the deepest power of healing we can possess.
Thanks for this!

I have a spider right now. Was doing a crystal bowl meditation one night. A spider kept crawling up on me. It did all through the heart Chakra and then went away.

Kaika, im really glad you made this thread, it reminds me that all the world is a reflection of who i am on the inside.. if i was less secure about my faith i might fear darkness when i discovered the unknown but since i know my clear intentions i am better equipped to manage irrational fears and have the ability to create the beauty i search for from within.. animals are loved only by the loving... ty again..

As i picked the lamb here or sheep. I have always felt close to its spirit...

But since i read this today .........and with my kitten i have posted about and him being ill .....i have felt so close to him as always. As i do with cats. They just kinda find me or me them. We are connected somehow. With kittens i can feel thier strong spirit and will to live. All living things have a very strong spirit I think all off us can connect with...
Animals are most accepting of us all for who we are. There hearts are huge. no matter thier size.
Lots of times we connect so well with thier spirit as we are the mirror image of them

sorry if I went off track in any way on this .........
Right now very connected with the kitten and its mom........

Good questions...

It is in my personal belief, that these animal spirits are not different from the holy spirit... simply another part, a small branch on a big tree that extends and touches many things and many souls. The holy spirit is nt one singular thing but is omnipresent and thus can live within us and present itself in many forms...

Asking wether or not to trust animal spirits to be good or evil, is like asking wether god, the angels the saints...if they are good or evil because they all are intertwined. They are not evil, although some may have trickster personalities, it is not their intention to do harm but to teach us one lesson or another. The only totems considered evil are called "shadow totems" and in truth they aren't evil at all, they represent what we fear or revolt at the most, and in truth the things that we fear often times have more to teach to us then what we adore, it is just the lesson, what they represent, that may seem scary.

Kaika thank you for sharing this and what a wonderful answer.
I myself do beleive that animals have much teach us and I am a firm believer in animal totems and that animals are guides.
I myself have always been strongly connected to the wolf, it brings me comfort and the wolf has much to teach. I am comferted by there howls and believe they are the most beautiful animals that are on earth. No matter where I go or how old I am the wolf always has something to teach me and show me.
I am also strongly connected to crows and sparrows.
I have recently been very connected to the coyote and I can see why.

The hawk has been my companion for the past few years, ever since my healing journey really began. It started one day when I was out for a run and looked up and saw a hawk migration flying over me - literally hundreds of hawks flying overhead. It was stunning, and I had never seen anything like it. Since then, I have been visited by hawks many times, including one that nests in my back yard.

I like reading this thread.

Hawk Messenger, intuition, victory, healing, nobility, recollection, cleansing, visionary power, and guardianship
