I recently told my T about a specific voice I've been hearing for over 10 years now. It's the first time I've ever told a professional about it. Hell, I didn't even tell ANYONE until about a year ago. He immediately called in the pdoc & I had an official meeting with her a couple days ago. She decided to prescribe me Risperdal and Trazadone, along with increasing my Lamictal and continuing my Klonopin.

So, I'm posting because I'm honestly kind of scared. This voice has been cruel and abusive and he makes me feel AWFUL, but, he's been around for so long. He seems like that asshole friend that you keep around because you feel like you need them for some reason. As Dr. Steven Levenkron said, "When the familiar is grotesque, a person will seek the grotesque." Also, I've looked into the side effects of Risperdal and gaining weight is a MAJOR concern of mine. I'm already obese and have been trying very hard to lose weight with very little success.

Basically, I'd just like to ask for others' opinions on the medication(s). I know everyone reacts to things differently, but typically, what kind of things could I/should I expect? Are there any recommendations of other types of meds I could suggest to the pdoc?

She already lowered my dose of Trazadone because the groggy next day feeling was too much. I couldn't accomplish anything. I read a couple reviews from other people saying it made them lactate. I was hoping that wasn't one of the common side effects. I don't want to add to my list of meds, but maybe something else might be required to perk me up a bit.

Although I'm not on it, I heard Abilify might perk you up and for most people it is weight neutral. Also, for most people (myself included) Geodon is weight neutral. But please bear in mind your experience may differ. Only by trying out each medication will you know how they will effect you personally.

I am also on Risperdal. They have to check my blood sugar levels every now and again as Risperdal can cause diabetes. I experienced very little weight gain. I also experienced lactation.

My T had put me on Clozaril but I didn't take the meds like I was suppose to. So now Im on INVEGA 9 mg. The voices are still there and not as mean but they still degrade me. I am still paraniod and very obese also. I am too scared to walk around my neighborhood even with someone and my neighborhood is good. I hate being like this.
