I've had hallucinations, delusions and extreme paranoia for all my life. For the past year or so I've been off of my medication because I got pregnant and wasn't comfortable with it. I tried briefly after she was born to get on medication, but I still have yet to find anything that worked. I've tried well over twenty different medications with no luck. I've decided recently to go back because it seems like it's getting harder and harder to tell the difference between reality and what's in my head. Does this disorder get worse with time? Any advice would be wonderful. I'm just afraid of my own mind at this point and I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Also, I don't have the opportunity to get online a lot and it may take some time for me to reply.

From studies that have been done with schizoaffectives apparently it does get better over time...but meds help..It took me over 5yrs switching meds to find the right one its definately no fun...Abilify seems to be the best med out there as far as side effects and effectiveness...Good luck! Hope you find a med that works well soon!

I know this is going to sound way too cliche, but hang in there! I'm so glad that you are seeking support (especially with people who get it). Do you recognize your delusions for what they are, or does someone have to point them out to you?

Sometimes I know, but not all the time. There are some that I've realized here lately that people have pointed out, but this has always been normal for me. I just figured it was normal. Lol thank you. I went to the doctor last week and set up my appt with the doctor. I wnot be able to see her til June but therapy is nice. :-)

That makes me feel better. Lol i have been on over 20 different mediations. I gave up for a little while because i was mentally exhausted. They diagnosed me in 2012. I hated abilify. It made me a zombie.

i also have schizoaffective disorder, and mine has gotten better over time thanks to the meds. (seroquel, and risperdal). they keep the paranoia under control, unless i didn't get enough sleep the night before.

Sorry you are having such a hard time. I finally tried Invega 3mg and it has worked very well for me. I also take Effexor 300mg. Unfortunately everyone is different. I was frustrated too with all the different meds. we were trying. With both of these I've had very little side effects. Abilify made me fat among other things. They just can't seem to make one that works for everyone and doesn't have a ton of side effects you don't want. Don't give up and do your own research. You will find what works for you. Take care.

I've been on a lot of meds too. Abilify was horrible for me. Haldol and seroquel seem to work best for me. Thanks to the postings about it getting better over time--I was about ready to give up. take care! D.
