Schizophrenia Screening 25
Early signs of schizophrenia present

ok so can anyone tell me what this means. is it possible for schizophrenia to develop/increase over time???

i do not hear voices but when i was a young girl somewhere between age 7 and 12 i heard voices...it was either a man's or a woman's and it was for sure in MY head. it was like a speaking in tongues of sorts...not any language i knew or understand...and it was very rapidly spoken w/ from what i can remember, no breaks. if there were it was for breaths. not sure why i have not had this since but i have never forgotten this.

does this mean i might have some schizophrenic tendencies or some sort of dormancy??? is this possible??? i definitely have some paranoia, obsession, speech difficulties in expressing myself or turning words around so that they are in the wrong places when i speak a sentence...i worry a LOT. my mind races. i suffer from frequent wakings w/ what i call out takes or previews of the dream i just had or whatever is on my mind...

thanks, guys.

Have you considered obtaining a professional opinion for your concerns? An online quiz can be helpful to a point, but it certainly isn't a diagnostic tool.

I think kids can have symptoms that, in an adult, might be schizophrenia, but in children they are often "passing phases", things they grow out of. For example, you'd be surprised how many children have seen Santa Claus... doesn't mean that they're schizophrenic, or psychotic... it's a hallucination that's within normal perameters for certain age groups. Lots of kids have imaginary friends... again, that's normal. But if I, as a forty year old, started talking to an invisible friend it would be cause for concern.

I think your hallucinations as a child could have been part of a developmental thing that you've since grown out of. If you have other schizophrenic style symptoms, you would be better of talking to a doctor. Good luck!
