I'm listening to him right now. Definitely down to earth.

I'm still trying to figure us out.

The first time someone told me that taxation was slavery, I was astonished but I thought it was just hyperbole. This guy does tend to be a bit dramatic. He's the one who called me 'evil' for being a liberal - and keep in mind 'liberal' here is anything not at the extreme right. But then I heard others saying the same thing. Slavery! Do these people not know what slavery is?

I know a reasonably well-educated American family who live in the UK and who swear up, down and sideways that nationalised healthcare is a form of slavery for doctors, nurses, etc. I can't do anything but giggle when they start that line of argument because it's just so absurd.
Also I've met a large number of Americans who insist that US health care is better because "When you get [cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.] in America, you live! You always hear about people dying in the National Health Service".

Lol... Yes, we never die. At least not of disease.

So, you're hearing the slavery bit even there, huh? It's just such a wildly exaggerated claim, I don't know how to respond. I keep thinking they must all talk to one another on conservative websites and that's where they learn this nonsense. I sometimes wonder how many slaves might have been willing to trade this tax-payer-slave version of slavery for the being-someone-else's-property-and-having-no-say-whatsoever-over-your-life version.

Only of terrorism, duh.

It goes beyond wildly exaggerated -- into a whole new world of batshit crazy.

I'm afraid that the crux of the problem may well be that no "learning" has gone on whatsoever.
Thanks for this!

I like money. I'm not willing, at this time, to renounce modernity and live of berries and roots and nuts and roadkill. Not at this time... I would attract much negative attention, I'm sure. I guess I can't believe that a healthy economy with a high standard of living and high life expectancy should be humanities goal. I think our foundation is not solid at this point. We shouldn't build any more on top of it. That is my belief. My foundation strongly rests on my Love for and of nature. I even pray to J**** on occasion. Why not? I don't claim to know anything anyone else doesn't know.

I'm not sure I'd be keen to live on roadkill whether or not it would attract other people's attention!
