The theory is that since some epilepsy medications (like Depakote) help with bipolar, then maybe this other treatment - the ketogenic diet which was widely used before anti-seizure meds were available - might also help.

I did suggest the diet to one woman who I met on the web somewhere and gave her the email of the researcher in Kentucky who was interested. Last I heard she was using the diet and it was helping. This was several years ago.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1...?dopt=Abstract

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treatme...Ketogenic_diet

http://evolutionarypsychiatry.blogsp...-disorder.html

Anyway if you're thinking you have some kind of seizure disorder, it's worth looking into. Usually when I bring it up, people kind of get freaked out, because the diet is so high in fat. I had a discussion with some women on the NAMI bipolar forum a few years ago, and they were telling me how dangerous the diet sounded. And I'm thinking, "Ok, you ladies are each taking like 3 to 7 different psychotropic medications, and you're worried about a little fat in your diet?"

One of the things that's so tantalizing to me is that when this diet works for kids, they can usually go off it after two years. The diet is not just a treatment; it's a cure.

This little boy was seizing up to 100 times a day, and this diet cured him:

i just read a newspaper article about not to blame mental illness and gave an example of a homeless schizophrenic shooting a social worker trying to help him.

oh man. im so nervous. about getting this ssdi money. im saving some of it but what else to do with it? i can only save so much right? cause they lower it if you get more money in your bank. like substantial savings right.

I think there's a limit, but I'm not sure how much. Don't worry too much about it accumulating. I know it seems like a lot of money right now, but it's not. Believe me, you'll spend it.

You could "pay rent" to your father, who could save it on your behalf. Buuut no matter how much you get in SSDI, I'm sure you'll find things to do with it. Paying for your philosophy course, for example?

SSDI- there is NO limit to the amount of money you can keep in your bank account.
SSI- there IS a limit.
Thanks for this!

Thanks, cyber. I've never understood all the ins and out of that. I leave it to my son to know the rules and follow them.

I'm with fish. You need to eat. In fact doesn't fish's name make you hungry?

i had another job interview today, and i think it went well. i would be happy if either place hired me, but i think i might like this job better. the boss seemed really nice. her office is super tiny, and normally i would have a really hard time being in such a small space with another person, but i felt fine with it.
i've been having a lot of headaches lately. not sure why. i haven't been sleeping, but that's normal for me.
Thanks for this!

idk if doing this school thing was a mistake.
i googled and it siad not to "broadcast" it at review if your situation is mental impairment.
on another hand idk if i can even do it.
i told them my cognitive symptoms were low in some areas like attention/memory and some understanding issues etc. but they didnt ask me about attending school (if i can remember) and i did every semester (well most) for 4 years now even if i didnt pass. but then again it was all true about that cognitive stuff. and thats also the reason why i dont think i can even do it personally.
