Hey,
I had a drug induced psychosis about a year ago from marijuana use. I don't smoke anymore and I'm on Saphris. I am experiencing some side effects from Saphris including a tension pain in my toungue and I don't really want to be medication for much longer, my doctor says I can try a lower dose in 6 months and see if any symptoms of psychosis come back ( I currently have none) What do you think the chances of having another psychotic episode without drug use is ?/ How long should I stay on medication ? Thanks |

How much marijuana did you do? I don't think people usually re-experience psychosis after illicit drugs unless they either use the drug again, or have used to much of it in the past that they've completely fried their brain.
I'm highly anti-medication, though, so don't ask me how long you should stay on it because I'll just say to go off ASAP.

The same thing happened to me. I've been on meds about 5-6 months, but I haven't had any symptoms of psychosis. I'm currently in the process of quitting my meds. If you really don't want to take them anymore and are feeling fine, have a talk with your doctor - I got some bad side effects from my medication too, so I know how it is.

I had drug induced psychosis from cocaine. I kept using afterward though and even while on meds. I'm just really ****ed up now. Not permanent psychosis or anything just extremely sensitive. Like I'm not even suppose to drink alcohol but I still do. I flip out really easy and have bizarre beliefs, but nothing too out there. It's not damaging anymore.
I really think you'll be fine. Same as borntoroam. Just know that being off meds is going to be difficult because they ****ed up your brain. ![]() |
