At first I was just schizophrenic, then I was labeled Schizophrenic disorganized, now its Schizophrenic paranoid type. Has anyone else been labeled different versions? They say the paranoid type is worst.

Actually, I don't think paranoid type is the worst one. I really don't like to label things like "this type is worse than this type," though, because everyone experiences things differently. I think it's certain symptoms that can cause the prognosis to be made better or worse, regardless of type.

I think diagnosis can change depending on your symptoms sometimes. I know with bipolar it can be changed depending on symptoms. Like maybe you used to not have psychosis, but now you do... so that gets added. Or whatever.

dx's change just like moods...

my list is a bout a 1/2 mile long...this then that then back to this then add that then change that to this and so on and so on... I bounce back and forth mainly from Parinoid Sz to Schizoaffective to PTSD to Boarderline and then back again and again... all depends on meds or no meds life changes etc, etc...

Labels only help to add stigma as seen in recent news broad cast... They are for the purpose of Dr. and insurance companies and really do no good to anyone who is going through a tough time... being labeled and haveing a list of symptoms and a hand full of drugs is not the answer... Im sick to death of it all

I agree with dark_heart_x because the paranoid type is considered to have the best prognosis but everyone is different. It is not always the best one to have if you have schizophrenia. Disorganized schizophrenia has actually been considered the worst type to have. I have had many labels in life. One was bipolar 1 with psychotic features, then schizophrenia undifferentiated type, then schizoaffective disorder bipolar type. It depended on the doctor. When I was young I had conversion disorder and I still do to some extent. I also have a severe anxiety disorder (GAD) which disables me the most believe it or not. My schizoaffective disorder is mild compared to a lot of people out there. Diagnoses can change all the time and it also depends on the doctor. They might see different things.

Welcome back Ackman 12! I have missed you in this forum! How are you doing right now?

Mine always stays the same - apart from 1 Dr that changed - then my new Dr changed it back - pretty much after a month, she's doing a new asessment though.

I used to be on a different forum and sometimes it would be like a competion to see who had it worse - I called them out and they denied it.

Anyway I wouldn't worry if it's the best (that sounds weird, not like it's a good thing) or worse kind to have. Like other people said - it's how it feels for you.

I would hate to have schizophrenia though, well I'd hate to have anything, it just seems like it would be hard to live with.

Well its not all that bad. I have paranoid schizophrenia and was diagnosed at 16, and i've had a pretty darn good life. The only real thing you gotta do is take your meds when you're supposed to and if you notice any symptoms you report them to you psyche doc . Also in regards to socializing or dating , first rule is you dont tell people you have schizophrenia and then you're pretty much good to go
One cool thing is anything you do , like say get into college , go to the gym and get buff, get a job,own a home, is pretty much just something you can take pride over since people who dont understand the disorder dont really expect too much out of you.
Thanks for this!

I just don't think I could cope with all the things that come with it.

You get to see the Dr for upto 5 years, after that it's just the GP or pay for someone, so it's just hope nothing happens after that.

I really couldn't deal with all that though - so I think it's really cool when you can
