Hello.
I currently take a smaller dose of Seroquel (50-75mg per night) to try to aid in sleep or if I am having an episode (hallucinating, shaking, disassociation, etc.). I am at the point tonight where I am getting very frustrated with my sleep deprivation due to nightmares and insomnia/anxiety. The Seroquel provides somewhat adequate relief and I can usually get up to three hours straight on it. I really want to take my Seroquel but my gut is wanting to get wasted so badly. I went out and bought a six pack of tall boys and already feel really guilty since I've tried to stop drinking lately. I've had one.. and really want to sleep. So it's going to be five more tall boys or 75mg Seroquel. My doctor says it's not wise to drink but I am so desperate for sleep right now. Anyone else take Seroquel and have tried drinking?

50-75mg is a small dose. I don't know about a 6pack with it, but maybe half and half?
I don't drink at all, but not because of meds. I never like to push for things that seem maybe a bit questionable, but that small dose and a few beers should be doable and you NEED your sleep. for tonight anyway Wait...will you have to get up often if you drink? For bathroom? here's to some good zzzzzzzzzzzz's |

Thank you for your quick response and insight.
I'm just making sure I won't trigger something that would end in something bad. Like how benzos and drinking go together (not well). I usually wake 3-9 times a night and stay awake for periods of 10-60 minutes due to nightmares so the bathroom won't be a problem for me! Hah. If I sleep, I am sure my body will wait until I wake up. Sleep>bathroom at this point, says my body.

If I am unable to sleep, would it be ok if I drank more then?

I don't know what would happen beyond that. I really don't know. I do know that I've been on doses of up to 700mg seroquel and woken up everyday, but with no alcohol.
I wouldn't do it, Have you tried more seroquel and no alcohol or a combo of seroquel and melatonin? You can't jump up to 700mg, but maybe...tomorrow night with no alcohol, go up to 100-150? Do you have any other things that help you sleep, like Tom Clancy books or Dan Brown? |

I suppose I do have some reading to do for next week's classes I could do.
The more frustrated I get at not being able to sleep is making me more restless. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and ask if I can heighten my dose.. The only problem is that I can only buy 60 25mg pills a month with my insurance and it still costs me 45 dollars... I can hardly afford that. If I need more, I will be paying out of pocket for every extra pill I need.

I do know the sleep killer beast.
Don't know about the insurance. Dr may be able to help? I hope. Mine has done some wiggling withme in the past. My doses change regularly so written up for the max. Doesn[t hurt to ask |
