Ok, right, well i have a friend, who is 15 and i'm getting really confused about her. She lies a lot, about a lot of things, and i thik she may be a compulsive liar, but i'm not sure if she is also a schizophrenic/ psychotic. Because as well as lying about silly things, like what she had for breakfast or whatever (which she does ALL THE TIME) she also tells me lots of stories about her childhood. For example, her EXTREMELY abusive step dad (some of the things she has said about him just seem too far fetched to be true, and there have been so many things that i dont think she would have had enough time in her life to have experienced and then recovered from them) and also her brother. She said she had a brother, who died. I think, though she still denies it, that this was proven to be wrong by our teachers. People aksed questions when 'he died' and they looked into it and found that there never was a brother. But this is where i begin to wonder. See, my illness (psychosis, possible schizophrenia) involved me having a brother. My brother was a sort of halluscination. I knew the whole time that no-one else could see him, or hear him, but i know he is real. I still believe it, more than i believe i have psychosis. But i ended up telling my friends that he had died, because until i figured out that he 'wasnt real' i told people about him. I was wandering if my friend might honestly believe that her brother was real. If she honestly saw him, felt him, heard him, knew him. Like i did. Or is she just copying me? I belived until today that her brother and her life was real, but then i found out about the compulsive lying, now i dont know what to do. She was the one person i could trust, and now i cant. Sorry its so long.

I know what you mean about the lying. My situation is a little different than yours. It's my step dad. He lies about everything. He has lived a long life so he could have experienced many things. But I'm not convinced that he has done everything.
For instance, I helped him lay a wood floor in our house. He made so many mistakes. There is no way he ever put in a wood before. He lies about winning money at the casino. One time I caught him in a lie. I used to be a welder. He said he has welded before. I asked him a question that only a welder would know, and he could not answer. Instead he just changed the subject. I'm sure you will figure out what to do about your compulsive lying friend. I have learned to take it with a grain of salt. I know my step dad is not going any where soon, so I have to learn to accept him. Maybe you could find more friends to confide in. I don't trust many people because I am schizophrenia too. I do trust my sister and my mom.Best of luck to you.

It could be she is having emotional issues and not necessarily psychosis. But if she's abused it's possible she's trying to create a world where seh feels safer and loved, but going about it the wrong way.
