what do you think about Amanda Bynes situation?

i really want to know from THIS community.

Quote:

"Amanda has heard voices for years, and was concerned she was being spied on via smoke alarms, and clocks in her home," a source told Radar Online. "She would cover electronic items because Amanda believed that was the only way she wouldn't be spied on. It's extremely sad situation because Amanda just refuses to get help."

"She talks to herself, displays schizophrenic traits. She’s not well period. If she doesn’t get help, she’s going to be the next Amy Winehouse. It will get to a point where she would take her own life.’
Jonathan, Kim Kardashian’s former PR, claimed earlier this month that police busted the Hollywood star’s apartment after he called them to say she was suicidal."
from different sources but they all say the same thing ^^^

With her recent outbursts, I think she genuinely is suffering from a bad bad mixture (take it from someone who's been there) of copius amounts of substances (as a model is want to do) combined with bi-polar disorder and most likely some deep rooted behavioral disorders.

I genuinely feel bad for the poor girl, even a lot of the people she's **** talking on twitter just want her to get help.

I hope she does.

I am a big fan of Amanda Bynes and it makes me very sad to see her decline so publicly like this. I can't think of a single film of her's that I've seen that I didn't like.

From my observation of her story I do believe she has some sort of illness going on. Whether it's bipolar, sz, or schizoaffective I can't say. I mean, psychosis isn't an sz only thing as we all know. I firmly believe any drugs she may be on are her way to self-medicate. But, instead it's only making her worse.

I really hope she can find whatever it is she needs to start turning back around toward wellness. I know being a child star is hell and it destroys so many. I wishe she could find a community like this one so she can be uplifted and not torn down the way the media and ignorant people will during this crisis.

I haven't followed the story, but my son has mentioned it to me several times. Not sure exactly what he thinks about it all, but he did mention that she was in a show he liked when he was young - on Nick, I think? He said he has happy memories of that time when he was young and watching Nick. I think the story about her problems is strange or disturbing to him because he associates her with that show and happier days.

It is distressing to anyone to see what is happening to her. She was not your typical starlet, that's for sure. Clean cut, always looked healthy, happy, and really put together. She's really funny, comes across as very intelligant, and has a really pretty face. She never fell for that BS of being thin as a twig.

Right now, she is unrecognizable! I've never seen such a full transformation without full on movie make-up, but she is completely gone. It breaks my heart. All of my memories of her are happy, too. I can see why your son is distressed.

I just read the story at your link. I'm not sure what you're asking, but my first reaction is that I don't think sz should be put on a person who is actively abusing drugs.

My second reaction is that her parents must have been old when they had her. She's about the same age as my son. I'm 51. She says her folks are in their 70's!

I glanced through the comments after the story, but there were too many of them, and they seem pretty typical of Internet comments - people with opinions but no facts/knowledge.

Very sad. I feel for her parents, and I understand why they're talking about conservatorships, but I personally think that's such a bad idea for several reasons.

It's hard when you see a loved one falling. You want to catch them and set things right again, but it's really a losing game if they don't want your help.

The reason it may be a mental illness is because this is a girl who was clean for the entirety of her career. it's only in the past 2-3 years suddenly and she didn't just fall off... she has jumped....

I would guess it's a bipolar thing before sz. but most people see things like hallucinating or psychosis as sz one. But, I agree that the media and her parents shouldn't be talking about a diagnosis unless she actully has one.

Not all her shows have been cable. Her show "What I Like About You" was network t.v. I watched it all the time when I didn't have cable, it was on CW. That was actually the first place I saw her. I didn't have cable growing up and never saw her on Nick.

I've not known many people with sz, so hard to say for me.

My cousin did act out because I know he was violent and he was that way on the job. He was fired and I don't know how many jobs he was fired from or how often he was violent. But it was bad enough that he never held a full time job again.

On meds though he never acted out. Meds helped him a lot, because he was a danger unfortunately. On meds he was really calm and nice person. He has major flat affect, though. But, it just makes him appear to be really serious.

I don't think it's acting out so much as the fact that your entire reality is getting pulled out from under your feet. Like, Alice in Wonderland, except that instead of being isolated in a strange land, you're still on Earth with everyone else not experiencing what you're experiencing.

I think it would be pretty normal to have a huge reaction to that such as isolating, "acting out," trying to stop it with drugs or alcohol, or even violence in those rare instances like my cousin.

@dark heart

yea i meant exactly what you said i just dont know how to put it that way.

i think last spring was the first time my sz hit a violent low. i almost assualted a girl at a college cause i thought she was following me. but police handcuffed me before i did. was in the hospital 5 times last year.

earlier this year i smoked pot a few more times (i hadnt since i was 15 i think) and drank a lot of alcohol for the first time ever.

now my dad just found out ive been smoking cigrattes and cigars and im more into smoking but just tobacco.

and past couple weeks ive felt so suicidal.

i could swear i hit a new low at least every year if not every 6 months since ive been 17. but i never see it coming...and symptoms just get worse as i get older

It's infuriating that they AAALLLLWWWAYYYYYSS say that it "must" be schizophrenia.

But other than that? I really hope she gets help. I mean, if a famous person can't get adequate mental health, what does that say for the rest of us? Lol. But yeah... I don't think it is drugs if it's been happening since she was a teen. When she was on nick, she was very straight-laced & definitely role model material! But I do think her recent drug use is responsible for the severity... The stunts she's been pulling lately: slutty pictures, drug use, inappropriate social interactions, etc. Reminds me of when I go manic! Hahahah, not like how I am now, but "off the deep end" type.

But who knows? Only time will tell & it's not like she'll be getting privacy anytime soon!! It could even be a medical issue.

I agree I don't think it's schizophrenia. I think it's bipolar with psychosis or perhaps schizoaffective with bipolar but not outright schizophrenia. I think she has hit a very low place and needs help.

I was thinking it would be good if she could get help from another star who has been there, like Carrie Fisher. Like as a mentor. Someone who has had bipolar with psychosis who also has had to have the publicity on her, and who has been through the alcohol/drugs and come out alive on the other side.

Well, perhaps we'll get an answer now. I just saw and article saying Amanda Bynes is being held on a 5150 in California for trying to start a fire, and lighting a piece of clothing on fire.

they kinded concluded shes doing it for attention. especially since people around her are saying shes acting ok. not that they arent trying to "rat" her out. but she doesnt seem like shes psychotic. maybe rather a druggie. who knows really i guess.

i just overheard The View on tv say that amanda bynes 5150 in CA yesterday says they are keeping her 2 more weeks becuz she has schizophrenia most likely. i think she is almost 30 right? doesnt it happen at that age for women many times?

""Amanda seems to be doing well," a source told us of her hospital stay, adding that a treatment plan was being discussed. "The thing with Amanda is that it isn't as bizarre as it seems. She knows when to pull it together and act normal.""

someone on thw view said "if she IS schizophrenic then we all know mentally ill people are VERY hard to control"

Yes, I think women can develope SZ later than men sometimes. Also though, I think you can fly under the radar a long time and no one realizes something is wrong. Look what happened to me, despite the fact that I was walking around with a secret society out to kill me I was getting Straight As at school and going to class every day, socializing okay. So.... people on the outside looking in wouldn't have thought anything was wrong. It was the people on the inside who were the problem.

I think somewhere else we read she's been having trouble for a long time but it was hard for anyone to tell because she does pull it together.

And, I know for a fact havign bipolar you learn to wear that "outside" mask. Fake it til you make it.... it's like playing a role in a play. That's what I tell my husband. Every time I answer the phone at work I'm playing the role of "Working Person/Receptionist." But on the inside I feel like I'm about to explode. It's a learned response due to societies expectionals of us.
