Hello everyone hope everyone is well. I would like to ask some questions regarding my condition. I have had 3 psychotic episodes in the last 3 years each lasting 1-2 months. All have consisted of delusions and no voices. I am now recovering from my latest episode and have persistent negative symptoms. These include loss of motivation, loss of enjoyment and trouble going to work. I also have lots of cognitive problems eg i have trouble reading and remembering. Has anyone found anything that helps with the cognitive and negative symptoms? Also when will they go alway? Does anyone have a similar story and can share their thoughts? Thanks

Hi Gixxer,
Everyone is different so I can only give you hope from my personal experience.
It has been a little over a year since things last got really bad for me. I now am able to read and remember. My organizational skills are much better. I don't get distracted easily. I still battle lack of motivation and some depression, but most of that has to do with my life situation. I was very frustrated at one point about 6 months ago because I thought I wasn't getting better. Now, looking back I know there has been a ton of improvement. For me my progress has mostly been made by learning about myself, how to take care of myself, and gaining support from peers.
It has been hard and discouraging at times, but I have made progress. Socially I am less anxious. I haven't had an anxiety attack in about 3 months. I have had to really discipline myself, to break through the lack of motivation and social anxiety, but the reward has been great.

There are some symptoms that probably will always be around. Those symptoms I have had for most of my life. I am learning to live with them.

Hang in there.

Gixxer, I have a cognitive impairment but the docs don't know if it was caused by my illness or my long-term meds. When I got tested I found out I have ADD. That causes some of the symptoms you are talking about. I was put on adderal and it helps me a lot...........D.
