Hey peeps. So I have this thing. I don't think that people around me are necessarily OUT to harm me, but I do think they WILL harm me, whether they want to or not. I think my doctors might be incompetent, I think my mom might get misinformation and harm me from it. I'm afraid of being locked up.

I'm not sure if this is paranoia or not, since I don't think these people are OUT to get me, but I do think they WILL cause harm to me, no matter their intentions. It's very distressing.

coyotetaught, its hard to completely and absolutely trust that doctors and other people will never harm you because no matter how well you communicate with them there is always going to be a bit of a gap between you. I think trying to be as clear as possible about yourself and what you are going through will help them provide you with the best care. It's important to somehow trust others to have your best interests at heart because that's the only way you can get help. Yeah, paranoia makes me question the people around me but I try to look at the facts and, when necessary, take the leap of faith that my pdoc and parents truly want to help me--there is always going to be a risk but it is worth taking.......D.

I have something similar where I think people aren't necessarily out to get me but they aren't for me, either. It's more of "nobody cares" type of attitude. Also if people promise me things, I automatically think they will forget or not do it, even if they don't mean to. I just have an overall negative attitude in that area.

For your issue, though, it's a good idea to be fully informed and educated on things. Like your dx and your meds etc. etc. I mean, sometimes misinformation does happen, so it's not completely irrational. But, if varifying everything everyone tells you 24/7 starts intruding on your life so you can't function, that's an issue. So, if that's happening then it's something to bring up to your doctor or therapist. That's how I look at things.
