My son was on Geodon for a short period one time. I have a bias against it, because he had a particularly bad incident while on it. I've never been sure if it was the Geodon's fault or the fact that his pdoc was in the process of transitioning him from Zyprexa to Geodon. Maybe it was the rapidly lowered dose of Zyprexa?

At any rate it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I had not heard of Geodone. My son is still in the hospital and that's what they have him taking. He was previously prescribed a very low dose of zyprexa which he mostly did not ever take. The bottle is almost still full with only a couple of tablets gone. It worries me that this new one does not seem to be mentioned too often in the forums. I assume it's not used as much as some of the others? Who knows! I would think that a rapidly lowered dose of many medications could potentially cause big problems. We were once told that wasn't the case by his former PDOC but I don't know if I believe that. I know you cannot get off an anti-depressant suddenly .

I was on Geodon for 4 years. It was a great med for the paranoia, dilutions and hallucinations. The problem I had was it made me flat. So after 4 years of being unmotivated to do anything I got my Dr. to switch me, it is an older drug that is why you do not hear much about it.

When I was first put on Geodon I was on it for 2 years before I took myself off it for 1-1/2 years but then relapsed and had to go back on it. This second time on Geodon I've been on it for 5 years. It really helps with my symptoms.
