I am definitely experiencing some symptoms/early signs of schizophrenia. Psychosis, delusional periods (can last for days), I hear things that "aren't there", I wouldn't say its a different voice in my head but there's just constant chatter (I usually have full blown conversations in my head). I never really thought I had any serious mental health problems but since I became & have stayed clean I've noticed things haven't changed but in turn have gotten worse. I am going to see a psychiatrist this week but I'm not even sure I can explain it right. Can anyone relate?

Yes! I think you will find lots of people that relate. I hope your appointment goes well.

hi there. sorry youre going through this. im glad youre going to take action to get this all sorted. it can take a while to get a diagnosis as many disorders have a fluctuating nature, ie some people with bipolar or depression have psychotic symptoms at times in their illness which can look like schizophrenia. and many people with varying disorders have periods of normalcy as well.
how long have you been clean and from what? it could be lingering symptoms from that or like you said, something else. good luck!

Schizophrenia and psychosis stuff run in my family and I know I have a cousin who is struggling right now from being sober. I think a lot of us have used various things in the past to run away from symptoms, and then when we become sober the mental challenges become all the more apparent. But it is really hard and will probably take a while to get a firm diagnoses of any sort, and you may never get one. These symptoms can be caused by drugs and get worse after sobriety too. I know it sucks not having answers though. I hope docs are able to figure something out for you.
