Yeah shooting domestic animal violates the animal cruelty laws in Texas for sure....Overview of Texas Animal Cruelty Laws

That's at the state level...my sister in Austin turned in her neighbor for keeping their dog on a short chain....there are anti tethering laws in Austin....they also made them provide water and a dog house...

Newtus I know you can't control what your neighbors do but it is animal abuse to beat an animal or to shoot one just because they walked into your yard. It is very, very wrong.

You could also call animal control. They will come out and get the roaming animal and scan it for a micro chip. That poor dog might have just escaped his yard.

Yeah so abandoning an animal is also considered a violation of Texas state law...class A misdemeanor with $4,000 fine an up to a year of jail time. If you cat comes back take it to the shelter...

i dont beat my animals or shot any. but i did have to mace a big dog. people dont get small dogs out here. or if they do they let their big dogs out to roam without a leash and that causes problems because when they get on your property you dont know if they are going to be aggressive with you. animals ARENT people. you cant ask them to stop doing what they are doing. i dont personally know a lot of people out here but i know OF people out here that have shot dogs.

Yeah a lot if times smaller towns just give them a bus ticket to a bigger city...we have a lot here but unfortunately also scammers who pretend to have no money to feed a baby or or stranded without gas etc..it's hard to tell so I just donate to the food bank instead.

Animals aren't people. You are right. But they sure as heck don't deserve to be shot just for roaming into someone's yard! I don't care where you live, country or not! People should have compassion. No animal deserves to be abused.

I don't know why you're getting angry with us Newtus. I'm not angry with you. Taking it to the shelter is just the right thing to do. The moral and compassionate thing to do.

Remember when you post stuff people will respond. Sometimes you may not like their responses but when you post that's a chance you take.

I don't think anyone's angry with you. We sure are at your neighbor but that's not your fault what he done. But when you take an animal into your home and you promise it love, safety, food, water, etc then you are responsible for it. You have to do the right thing. Dumping it is a crime.

yes Asheville is nice. most of the ppl are very friendly. it's a very liberal area too. which is kind of uncommon in NC. since it's a red state. but yeah i like asheville. they have really nice homes there. There are a lot of festivals in the spring/summer there
