What about your black cat? How will you feed her if you're out of cat food? Could your dad buy some?

And I can't imagine shooting a dog that gets in my yard, but I can certainly understand why someone who lives in wide open spaces and an unknown big dog comes in your yard - you have to worry about it. They can eat up chickens etc., scare horses, fight with and injure dogs that belong on the property. They could have rabies. Or they could be aggressive, and I can understand a person not wanting to wait to find out. I'm not condoning the neighbor shooting the dog, but maybe he had a really bad experience in the past with a strange dog coming on his property.

Anyway, wild cats are wild cats. And with perhaps some exceptions, Wild cats are not really domesticated. If they take off, there is little you can do about it.

If the cat wanders back, you could take it to a shelter, but wild cats are difficult to adopt out, and there's a good chance he may be put down. He may live longer if left in the wild.

I mainly just wanted to support you, and let you know that I do get how the circumstances you and the animals around you are in is very different from those of us who live in well developed towns and cities.

And I don't think anyone is angry with you. I just think they love animals and don't understand how it works where you are.

Newtus doesn't live that far from me. Maybe an hour and a half to two hours away. There are many animal shelters not too far from her. I provided the links for her as I was trying to help her. She is not responsible for what her neighbor does. That is just a very sad situation. But dumping an animal out because you can no longer afford it is wrong. It is also a crime.

thanks for that. yea about the dogs a lot of people from the city come and bring their dogs and dump them around here in the middle of the night and take off and then never come back making us take care of the situation. ive had numerous neighbors shoot dogs. i mean thats just how it seems to be. i grew up in the city so i know where everyone is coming from. i just happened to move to the country 6 years ago and learned their ways.

but yea this cat was feral and i bought it like that and i thought it was ok to let it go since i didnt have it that long anyway but i guess idk maybe i did the wrong thing idk

Newtus: It is very wrong for those city people to dump out their unwanted animals. It is not right at all. People should not take on an animal if they cannot afford it or don't want to make the commitment to take care of it for the rest of its life. I know sometimes people get animals and then it doesn't work out for various reasons. That's when they should do the responsible thing by trying to find it another home or take it to the shelter. That is just common sense.
I have rescued many cats and dogs. In fact the two cats we have now were feral. And my Daisy was rescued from a lady who had too many dogs. So because of my deep love for animals is why this hits so deeply with me.
