My son went out on a temp job recently. He worked 5 hours in the concession stand for an event sponsored by an insurance company. By the end people were saying he looked tired, maybe he needed to eat something. In fact someone insisted he take a plate of food which really annoyed him, because he'd already been 'forced' to eat a plate of food. (My son has this thing where if you offer him food, he feels like he has to say 'yes' and he has to eat it. The words 'no, thank you' apparently aren't in his vocabulary. ) He doesn't really eat that much.

So, then they let him go 15 minutes early, and as he was leaving, they said, "You don't have to hurry off," which really confused him. Then they tried to make him go to the medical tent to be checked out. He started to go, but he knew he was fine, so finally he told them he was leaving and just left.

I'd love to know what he was doing that had them so concerned. Sometimes he's very odd in the way he interacts with people, very stiff, and he doesn't seem to be aware of it. And if he wasn't smiling and looking tired, they may have thought he was overheating in the concession stand.

He has a job interview for a peer support position in a couple of weeks. Everyone send good thoughts his way. I think he'd be a great peer support person. He just needs to make a good impression at the interview.

This is what my son is applying to do. He took a course and a test to be certified as a peer support specialist.

Well my care coordinator recommended metal to cure my anxiousness. Now that's a cure I like. She said it could possibly be the medication doing this to me, but she doubted it because of the really low dose. Then she said it could be because I know I'm going to get yelled at tomorrow and that's going to raise anxiety levels as I find my grandma intimidating when she shouts.

ugh i have to call my landlord. the pipe under my sink is leaking water when the faucet is on. i just noticed it when i was washing my dishes and my feet got wet. it was coming out of the cabinet onto the floor. also my doorknob is basically falling off the door of my front door. but i HATE talking to my landlord. it makes me SOOOO nervous. she makes me nervous. she is a very serious all business lady. so she intimidates me. plus i get anxious when people that dont normally come to my apartment come in here and do stuff.

Thanks. Me too. He'd be so good at it. And he really needs some direction and purpose to his life right now.

I have the same problem. I always have a mad-frown face. I have to force myself to make positive facial gestures when I'm working. I think my look keeps people at a distance from me. I'm okay with that. But I think certain people at my work just think I'm a mad b_tch because I'm not overly bubbly like most of them are. That fake overly happy act they put on makes my stomach turn!

I seriously hate it when people say that to me. What business is it of theirs? I always want to say something back like, "My grandmother just died."

I wonder if men hear that as much. I think there's something about an unsmiling woman that makes people uncomfortable.

That's a great come back! I bet they'd back off then. I think women are expected to be "happy" and "smiling" all the time no matter what. I do wonder if men are ever told those things...

And I hope and pray that there won't be anymore arguments. I think we should all respect each other's posts. We can always politely agree to disagree.
