Would getting anxious when you have no drugs mean you're becoming addicted? I know I could ask in the addiction forum but don't want to make a new thread. Pah, lazy.

yea it does cause hes had two strokes cuz of it. well he he drank in the summer heat and had a heat stroke. we talk a lot about it. mostly everytime he drinks or when we get something to drink. i wish he would stop drinkigg altogether but i just kinda "started" drinking at 21 in my life. so i feel like my life with drinkng just started. but anyway some people mentioned i should stop in order for my dad to stop but why?

I don't think you should stop simply to get your father to "stop". Your dad is a grown man and can make decisions on his own. He should seek help for his addiction and learn to control himself when alcohol is around.

You can't convince an alcoholic to get help unfortunately. They have to want it, if they don't want help they're not going to get any better no matter what anyone tries.

It sucks.
Thanks for this!

It's certainly worrying... if you are relying on drugs in anyway then they could certainly make you a little anxious when you run out. For me I started off being a bit anxious or bored if I didn't have drugs & eventually I just had no impulse control & if I couldn't get access to drugs I'd get very irritated or feel down. That was only psychological addiction too.

It's not a good path to go down, I wasted a lot of money & screwed up the effectiveness of my meds by using drugs last time I was ill. I'm sure the drug use made my apathy worse even though in some ways it was the only thing helping with it.

I have to admit it was fun. I was in a bad mood when I started - and really nervous, I asked my son to come out and support me, he was there at the finish line, it was nice to see a familiar face.

That sounds like me alright, I feel like I'm no fun and don't want to go out with my friends unless I have some. I can drink more and am able to communicate much more effectively when I'm on them.

Need to keep this in mind that it could become a problem for me very quickly.

Good job on running the 5k! Lol I'm so out of shape... a mile is difficult for me to run.

On another note... I looked at my butt in the mirror before taking a bath today and it's flat as hell. Lol all the weight I've been losing is going off my butt. D:

It creeps up on you... I went from using drugs maybe twice a week, to three times... occasionally two days in a row & eventually I was using drugs 4-5 days a week.

You will rarely realise you have a problem until it is full blown. I hope you manage to keep from going down that route.

Lots of good people...will hall, mackler, etc on the beyond medical model one....different ideas from trauma, spiritual etc., integration of unusual circumstances rather than trying to control them with meds....

Second one is shorter but more about patients....both are good...nothing hugely revelatory but might be helpful for those who haven't ever thought beyond the meds...more like inspirational....

These are put out by western mass rlc which also does a peer warmline.

I had a bottle of beer the other day but it didn't do me any good... made my voices & paranoia worse the next day, which is strange because during my psychosis last time... it never once made it worse.

Strangest thing... I was outside having a cigarette, saw my shadow & it felt like it wasn't entirely me... like it was watching me. Like when I was just a certain distance from our outside light, it seemed really dark & ominous. I felt I couldn't get away from it... obviously, which I can't because it's my own shadow! Strange.

This happens to me a lot. It also happens to my reflection. Someone is hidden in it and my shadow. They stare at me or tell me things. Last January there was an imposter in my friend.

It is definitely creepy.
