Hydroxyzine isn't recommended for anxiety here because it's not rated as very effective. Have you ever tried a sedating antidepressant? Some of them are really good for anxiety

Yeah I have to go to the opticians soon for a second opinion and possibly testing for a perceptual problem, and I'm already dreading mentioning psychosis stuff (normally perceptual issues are developmental, so I'd have to explain why I've only had problems the last few years). :/

Yeah, I was helping someone with benefits stuff and this other woman was asking how I knew so much and asking where I worked and so I had to lie, but I felt bad. Can't admit that the lunatics are helping to run the asylum!

Oh ok, I was just thinking that if you had an ear canal infection, bleach would make it really sore. A pharmacist could look at the canal visually, but if that looked normal, then someone would need to see inside with an otoscope to see the tympanic membrane. But most ear infections are viral, so antibiotics might not help. They're not routinely prescribed here for ear infections anymore to try to reduce antibiotic resistance.

also, thanks willow , about the group. ya i was really nervous...but its turning out ok. im glad i decided to push thru my comfort zone and try it out
It's more likely to be viral then. I'd try paracetamol and taking it easy, and hopefully it will clear up.

You're doing really well pushing yourself to achieve all of these things - you should be proud!

Haha I was at the pharmacy the other day looking for some cough syrup for my cough that only bugs me at night and wakes me up. So I wanted the drowsy one to help me get some sleep in between coughing fits. She asked me what meds I was on and I told her, she said she wasn't comfortable serving me over the counter cough syrup because of that. Made me feel like a junkie looking for the hard stuff haha! I'll never make that mistake again.

They say you're supposed to. I wouldn't really know, I have to avoid the sun even without antipsychotics being involved because I am extremely pale first of all and second of all I have extensive scar tissue on both of my arms from wrist to shoulder and the last thing I want is to get those sunburned. I burn within half an hour in direct sunlight, time of year doesn't matter. So I'm always covered up when I'm outside, even during the summer... I hate suffocating in the heat but I have no choice.

Thank you. They put me on Cymbalta in the hospital (as well as Abilify and I forget what else) and it seemed to be OK after a few days but now when I try to go back on it I get bad anxiety so I'm afraid to keep taking it. My body chemistry is a lot different now I think. I'm not sure what to do. I can't even make any appointments so far. All I do is sit on my bed.

I can't edit my post? I wanted to say I hope everyone's dental appointments go well. I have to go too, but I'm terrified because I was told 3 years ago that I'm going to lose my teeth (ALL of them). So ive just kept not going.

It sucks that they get away with it because people are so unwell that they can't advocate for themselves

I don't know if the pharmacy is shut (I have no idea what time it is with you; it's midnight here), but oral paracetamol or another painkiller if you prefer should help until you can get specialised drops.

My tombstone would probably say "I'm sure it's nothing" lol Anything to avoid healthcare professionals!

I found duloxetine and the other SNRIs and things like NARI etc to be quite activating, which means anxiety/general jitteriness for me. Some of them calmed down after a couple of weeks, others didn't. I was thinking more of something sedating like amitriptyline (tricyclic) or mirtazapine (tetracyclic). Fluoxetine/Prozac is said to be recommended for anxiety, but that made me hypomanic and gave me akathisia, or there's paroxetine/Paxil, but I've never taken that. The good thing is that a sedating one could help both your anxiety and your insomnia. I was on amitriptyline for ages on it's own for sleep and then found out that it has some anti-anxiety effects even at the low dose I was taking, which may explain why I did ok on just that for ages, but then it pooped out :/

Do your GPs do house calls in the US? Here if you're too sick to go to the surgery, or agoraphobic etc, they have to come to see you in your own house. Otherwise is there somebody like a friend or a support worker or advocate you could get in touch with to help you get help? It's kind of a catch 22 when a person is too anxious to get the anxiety help they need

Thanks and I can relate. I was really worried that they were going to shout at me for not brushing my teeth often enough, so I kept putting it off. I only forced myself to make an appt because I was getting bad shooting nerve pains in the ones that need fillings. It's so stupid because I know full well if I don't brush my teeth, they're going to fall out, and I don't want that, I'm scared of that...but I can't seem to brush my teeth. I don't know why and nobody else IRL 'gets' it because they think it's just 2 mins twice a day - how hard is that?! Well I used to think that, but now it's like expecting me to run a marathon twice a day and I have no idea why. So yeah I get it

Well both will clear up on their own with time. Antibiotics only help the bacterial ones, but viral earache is more common, especially if you've recently had other viral symptoms.

Thank you for the ad suggestions. If I can ever get out of here I'll ask. No, no house calls here. I still don't even have a doctor. I can go to that rotten clinic but I don't want to. I have to make eye appointments and get to them asap. No, it's not because I don't brush my teeth. I took good care of my teeth all my life but I got early damage to them from braces and now they want to pull them all out. I'm terrified of it because how will I look? What will I eat? I'm just terrified.

Sorry, I meant I can relate to the fear of losing all of my teeth, not suggesting you don't brush yours. My Nan had a full plate denture and it looked completely natural and she ate just fine and that was 20 years ago so they're probably even more natural now
