Feel free to answer if you're comfortable saying. I've noticed a lot of us seem to be young. Am I wrong?

I'm 23. I'll be 24 in Nov.

I'm 21, I would think we are mostly around the same age because the typical age of onset or peak symptoms is the late teens and early 20's

My hallucinations started at 13. I remember my paranoia starting after my house burned down in 4th grade. At the time, I didn't know I was being paranoid though.

I was wondering if there was someone older than their 30's here. (No offense.) I wonder if older people simply aren't here because they don't know how to use technology as well or don't even know these sites exist.

We do! I'm 48. There are people older than me on here. Have a look at the social groups - seniors tend to hang out together

Ok , the initial view of schiz for many is that its more a psychological problem. So people tend to adapt a persona that is non judging and everyone thinks they are a counsellor. What can I say.. that eventually wears thin , when people get into their 30s and adopt a more pro psychiatric view of the world. They basically realise their illness is not going away anytime soon and adopt a more abrasive view of the world. its kind of like the youth are more likely to be liberal , whilst the older the once young get , the more conservative they become...

anyway enough in their to offend just about everyone ...

actually not trolling , but thats the way I see it.

I'd like to think that people start building solid real world support systems soon after diagnosis. I only had my first break four years ago but through PC I've met people I consider real world friends even if it's primarily email based or Skype. The stronger my support there and with my in city friends, the better my therapy supports etc the less reliant I am on the forum. I think maybe people find the forum when they are struggling which is closer to initial diagnosis and initial diagnosis tends to be young.

Well... thank goodness that it is much more complex than your single idea. I am here because of my daughter with bipolar. I went from forum to forum just looking for info. I landed here at some point years ago, and just read for a good while. Over time, I grew fond of many of the posters, and ultimately started posting myself.

I just happen to be the oldest one who has posted their age so far, but I don't consider myself a 'senior' yet.

And how old are YOU, Materly?

too old

im in my late 30s , ive being on forums for years and just dont post personal info , more out of routine and discipline.

the poster is right , I have remarked on this before , and with many of the other forums the average age is older.

Has anyone who's 30 and older have had symptoms since they were young? Like 16+? If so, how do you manage to go by each day for so long?
