Anyone taking clozapine here?
If yes, how do you deal with salivation? Since taking it.. I have a big problem and my bed and pillow get wet from saliva. So my pdoc prescribed Isopto Atropine which is a drop and I have to take two drops on my tongue each night. It works.. but boy does it have a bitter taste.. it is totally disgusting and I don't know if I can keep taking it? So just curious... how other clozapine takers deal with salivation? |

Me! I keep several pillows in my bed so if one gets uncomfortably damp I can switch it out. It seems to vary in intensity from day to day. It also can cause bedwetting but I rarely experience that.
When I started taking the drug I found it very sedating but with time that lessened. I've been taking the drug since 2007 and it manages my bipolar symptoms well so putting up with the side effects is worth it to me.

But more importantly.. I think the sedation of clozapine is so good that I like it. It helps me think better.. and I don't want the sedation to go away. I am currently on 175 mg of clozapine daily.. next week it will go up to 200 mg until I see my pdoc next month which by then she will decide if it is enough or need to be raised again. But yeah.. I find the sedation so calming and wonderful.. so I hope it doesn't go away but sedates me even more as time passses by. |
