I'm so sick and tired of being told I'm just sorting out repressed memories as a result of childhood trauma. While I did have childhood trauma, this just isn't making sense. There is a war in my head and I'm not a veteran or in a combat zone. Why are there flying monkeys? This is just getting worse instead of better but t is convinced the psychiatrist knows what she is talking about (we've only been meeting for 6 weeks so t doesn't know me well yet). T originally thought they were hallucinations before talking to psychiatrist. I anonymously mentioned them to my abnormal psychology professor (we had a schizophrenia assignment), who is a clinical psychologist, and he thought they were delusions. My question is, I know they are not real but they feel real, how disconnected from reality does it really have to be to be psychosis?

"There is a war in my head and I'm not a veteran or in a combat zone"
Can you give more details about this?

Some psychiatrist have told me what happens to me its not psychosis because I know it's weird. Others have told me it's but I just have a good insight. Others told me because of my personality I am not prone to blind faith -I am skeptical and always wonder about everything- so even If I am psychotic it would be rare I lose all insight all the time -They still consider it psychosis-.
It's depends on each professional. For me, if it makes reallity confusing and you have a hard time knowing if it's real or not -at least in the begining-, it's psychosis. anyway, trauma can lead to or trigger psychosis. not just PTSD or dissociation. https://www.amazon.it/Psychosis-Trau...=1&*entries*=0

Thanks Nocter! It does make reality confusing.
The rapists were battling the non-rapists. One of the rapists died so that was kind of nice. There were guns and cannons. |

in my location psychosis is when a person does not know when something is real or not, or believes that something that can not possibly be real is...
giving a guess here on a popular saying around my own location... people around here when they believe something wont happen they say when pigs fly. they dont believe pigs fly its just illustrates to the person this is said to, how impossible the situation is feeling to them. plus there are may childrens books and movies out right now where animation\ the authors have animals flying. my point maybe somewhere along the line your brain thinks a problem is too hard for you so the idea of an animal flying around is what your brain conjured up for you. or your treatment providers may think what is happening is in this same line. if this isnt what you mean maybe you can talk with your treatment providers and clarify what you mean when you tell them you have a flying monkey. |
