misanthropia, cyberia, memes...

misanthropia sides:
positive: distancing from people brings more introspection
negative: can create hatred
in art: shady area, brings catharsis but also can be misinterpreted

Im not really a misanthrope. More a loner due to mental illness and weird worldview.

But also Im not a fan of people, in crowd, neurotypical, ordinary. They can be real pricks, by varying degrees. Thats not an opinion or a fact, just my perception.

But even typicals carry with them something valuable to me, if I can isolate a part of them.

A part that is not so obsessed with being popular, gossiping, climbing up the written and unwritten hierarchies of sick culture that controls everyone.

The (un)culture is the real enemy of decent life. The sick values we have created and that are now creating us.

We are slaves to primordial genes now appearing as memes. Creating a modern cyber jungle with all kinds of beliefs being slinged and valued over the innocence of spirit.

Programming error it seems.

I wrote this in a flash in 3AM so any criticism is welcomed.

I use wallpapers like these when in urge to set myself on fire, literal and metaphorical. Maybe if I scorch myself the demons will burn too.

Fascinating website related to transhumanism, futurism, and other related topics that also has some rather interesting predictions on it.

For those into this sort of thing this website is a must read.

Future Timeline | Technology | Singularity | 2020 | 2050 | 2100 | 2150 | 2200 | 21st century | 22nd century | 23rd century | Humanity | Predictions | Events

I'll further contribute to this thread later.

Such a shame that more people on PC aren't into tech and geek talk

Welcome darkness...

The thread gets viewed so I guess they are at least interested. Maybe some will even convert to linux.

Linux is the way to go and I use it for everything not gaming related.

Unfortunately, I am forced to keep a Windows PC solely for gaming because of compatibility reasons

In this point of time I only play colobot, and its not even a standard game. Used to play online quake arena, in linux. I was not the best player but also not the worst.

I'm thinking about buying this next month provided my college financial aid works:

https://puri.sm/products/librem-13/

Laptops and tablets with built in hardware kill switches that disable camera, microphone, and network connections at the hardware level that also come preconfigured with PureOS.

Perfect for my educational and business related needs.

Also perfect for all of the aspiring hackers out there
Thanks for this!

I would still use paper over camera protection. Or next time rather buy standard or mini desktop computer.

Though I will never ever be paranoia free. I feel like I have no privacy at all, the last 16 years. Or maybe even before, when I entered this computer age.

It started with gossip paranoia and then gradually extended more and more over the years to cosmic paranoia, aliens watching me...

Why not both?

While paper does do a good job at blocking a webcam, it does nothing about the microphone.

A purely hardware based kill switch that completely blocks all power leading to both the webcam and microphone is the best bet for privacy on a mobile PC combined with basic network and browser configurations that I probably don't need to explain to you.

Yes, getting a desktop can be a better bet but some of us who work or study on the go need an alternative and since I will need a laptop for school anyways I might as well put leftover grant/loan money into getting a libram since I already own a beefy custom built gaming desktop that I use for gaming and streaming and I don't see a point of building another one.

Just my 2c
Thanks for this!

Tor is probably the safest way to travel, but for some reasons I can not abandon firefox.
----
For those who dont know, Tor is used to surf anonymously and also gain access to deep and dark web. It can be installed even in windows I think. I run it along with linux tails.

Yes. I the dark web

People are so scared of it while I find their fears amusing.

Still though, some web sites outright block tor traffic so it's good to have a bulletproofed Firefox as well; especially when dealing with anything related to money such as online banking or purchases because those sites will outright decline you if they see you using tor or any type of proxy or VPN service.

I just noticed that you have a tails running from that screenshot you showed.

Nice.

I used to run tails on a SD card out of all things. Made me feel like a cyber ninja when I could disguise a whole operating system inside my smartphone LOL

Surfing the dark web can raise suspicion. I dont do anything illegal there so Im not worried any more than I am worried about the normal web. Facebook (with friends) is actually scarier to me. I have facebook with zero friends.

These days, pretty much anything makes people suspicious.

Still though, I don't let the government's suspicions stop me from doing things I'm passionate about; it's not like I'm doing anything wrong anyways.

Even if I were, what could they do about it? Worst thing that would happen to me is I would have to suffer the inconvenence of being without my PC for a few months while they do a forensic search on it. If I were a cyber criminal (which I'm not), I would know how to protect myself and my data so it wouldn't matter.

I give all governments and big corporations the finger.

Oh and one other little thing to add; reading what some of the actual cyber criminals say regarding what they do and why they do it and their outlook on life really makes one question the so called morals that are instilled into many people at a young age.

I don't consider black hat hackers and carders as bad people anymore after seeing a lot of them show each other more kindness and actually help each other more than the so called "normal" good law abiding people of society. If anything, they are modern day robin hoods since their actions only affect these big greedy banks that screw over many innocent people out of their livelihoods and homes.
