It's a nightmare. Living death. Think of everything you know, and lose it all. It's so horrible. Wake up one day and suddenly you don't know the alphabet, can't read, can't write, can't do basic arithmetic on a shopping excursion, forgetting names, faces, just everything.

I read a few places that it does. Early alzheimers or dementia sets in.

And the days go by...
Like a strand in the wind...
In the web that is my own...
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby...
Nothin' else mattered

I think I'll be single all my life. No kids... alone in a house full of cats with their demands of food and cuddles... but not too much cuddles or they'll bite.
Thanks for this!

I wondered something similar a short while back. That's what started all this crap with the in clique. My roommate was ranting and raving and pacing one evening spewing hatred for the cool grey haired chick, whom she was certain was deliberately mocking her with facial expressions that were evil or something. She couldn't calm down until I told her she could bring the matter up to the social worker (who's a master of keeping calm and the art of diplomacy). So, she did. The cool girl got moved out of the group 2 smokers, into the group 1 smokers. Since then, just suddenly last week, the cool kids were pumping her for something, or somehow trying to draw her out. I have given the whole situation to God because I can't deal with it anymore.

Anyway, I had wondered if early onset dementia could have any psychotic features because she was really worked up about that cool grey haired girl. I have a sense of expectancy about when I might be leaving here. My therapist probably has a say in it. Maybe I should just go to that place and say nothing about vaping. It would probably be the fastest ticket out of here. But I wouldn't get a private room. I'd have a roommate, so that's another strike against it. Forget vaping once someone else is involved. For some reason she's been pushing that place into my face. (The conservator)

I knew a woman with dementia. In the early stages she thought people were watching her house and tapping her phones. She eventually was taken to a psych hospital and discharged to a nursing home.

I know someone who's mother has dementia. She acted similar to someone who has schizophrenia or some other mental illness. I hate to think someday my brain will deteriorate to something worse than what I have now.

The great ones are fictitious and the normal guys are probably real (the ones that don't stand out, but you sense their profile is probably accurate). Try the tack test with a list of ordinary guys. Open up a page, and with one finger, eyes closed, put your finger on the screen and that will be one picked. And use that method to build a list of "maybe's" Good luck!

I have Alzheimer's on my dad's side of the family. I remember being told about my dad's aunt who had it and she managed to get out of the nursing home and jumped in a lake to swim with the ducks.

If dementia runs in your family, you're more likely to be at risk. But if none of your family, such as your grandmother's and grandfathers have dementia you have less risk.
