Are there any Physical Illnesses, like diseases, that can cause Schizophrenia, Psychosis, Depression or mimic symptoms of those mental illlnesses?

Ive had strong feelings that there was a physical problem that could have caused all this. Ive been to doctors a few times and had tests done about other symptoms that I thought I had and it all came back good. If there is nothing wrong with me physically than I guess all this has to be in my head or something, which I dont really believe.

Also, can mental disorders cause physical symptoms?

Ive had physical symptoms like poor circulation, leg cramps and other cramps, fatigue, constipation, I cant concentrate, trouble breathing, heart palpitations. I realize that some of it might be from anxiety, but I dont know.

what physical illnesses did your dr's rule out?

There are diseases out there that have the physical symptoms you refer to. There are diseases out there that can bring about depression and anxiety.

Psychosis and Schizophrenia like symtoms can be brought about through medications and or withdrawals from such medications or recreational stuff.

What exactly are your psychosis symptoms that you are asking about?

Well, I didnt tell my doctors about the psychosis. I told them about some of the physical symptoms I was having. They tested me for like 8 different things and they all came back negative. Im not sure exactly what they tested for though.

Im not on any medications at all, and I havent done drugs or alcohol for a while. I guess you can rule that one out.

I have a lot of symptoms, some are continuous, and some are just once in a while. The symptoms are: Weird thoughts, unreality, I cant concentrate, bad memory, mood swings, no emotion, isolation, lack of motivation, paranoia, delusional thinking. I have had these thoughts for a long time before I realized that they werent normal.

I would imagine that they did a basic chemistry, liver testing, heart testing and perhaps a Chest X-Ray.

Schizophrenia is often confused with Viral Encephalitis, Brain Tumors, Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, Cerebral Syphilis, Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington's Disease and AIDS. I don't think based on those symptoms you have either.

There are several other diseases that cause symptoms of Schizophrenia.

I have to stress that these disorders are usually only confused with Schizophrenia in the beginning when few clinical symptoms are present. Once these diseases progress the correct diagnosis becomes clear.

Your symptoms are all symptoms of anxiety. If you are taking anti-psychotics they could also be a result of those medications. Have you shared your feelings with your Therapist or Psychiatrist?
