Yes, this does sound very much like paranoid schizophrenia. I cannot say for sure though sweetheart, so speak to a doctor. Don't panic too much, i am sure it could be a bunch of other things. just go to your doctor asap.

a psychiatric diagnosis should not be made without a comprehensive exam including medical clearance to rule out any organic cause for your symptoms...

that being said, a message board can't tell you whether or not you have schizophrenia...

to help you a little in between now and your visit... LOTS of factors can cause psychotic symptoms in individuals

even something as simple as benadryl has been known to cause hallucinations in some people...

as far as mental illness with psychotic symptoms... it is NOT limited to just schizophrenia... depression can have psychotic features ... as well as bipolar disorder... there are others such as schizoaffective disorder, dissociative identity disorder, etc...

there are serious overlaps in symptomology of the psychiatric disorders and their criteria...

my suggestion is that you not worry on the name of whatever is going on but try and focus on controlling the symptoms.. b/c they are present regardless if it is called bananapantsitis or schizophrenia

I recommend you see a medical professional as soon as you are able... the good news is that there are VERY successful treatments for psychotic symptoms... like all medications, there will likely be trial and error finding one combo that knocks out your symptoms, but it is usually an easier mix than if you were trying to combat anxiety/depression b/c psychotic symptoms are clear cut... either they are there, or they aren't...

if all of the symptoms do not disappear, please notify your medical professional.. as they evaluate you over time, they can determine what will respond to treatment and what might be "fixed"...

good luck with the process, if you are strong enough to come here looking for help, I'm sure you are strong enough to do very well until the guidance of a medical professional

Psychosis is a symptom of: Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective disorder, Delirium, Dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Vitamin deficiency, Mineral deficiency, Hormonal imbalance, Endocrine disorder, Thyroid disease, Cushing's disease, Steroid medications, Postpartum psychosis (female?), AIDS (Brain infection), Syphilis (neuro type), Lyme disease, Lupus, Connective tissue disorder, Migraines, Seizure disorders, Movement disorders, Sleep deprivation, Chronic insomnia (type of Insomnia), Chronic sleep disorder, Dehydration, Sunstroke, Poisoning, Toxic exposure (type of Non-Contagious Diseases), Certain medications, Narcotic drugs, Alcohol abuse

Do you have any of these.....I don't know. Observation is the single most important part of a diagnosis. I can't observe you in person...you need a professional to exclude those things above.

We can help with a large number of issues... Diagnosis is not one of them.
