Yes, unexcused absences receive a zero for that day's work here also.
Thanks for this!

MOST school and college actions are very unfair...just to boost the teacher`s egos....and let them think they have control over us....

Students who are late it is THEIR problem - i think it is time to let them take responsibility for their actions - punishment does not help but just makes one be scared or ashamed.
What they miss if they are late is the lesson itself. This should be their problems.
This is the difference between maturity and childhood - kids are not doing something because they are afraid of punishment - adults avoid of actions that lead to negative results. THIS is responsibility. Awareness of possible results....in natural and life you are not punished - so when you get out of school you can be late steal etc and not be punished for it. Why not make the kids face results of their action instead of making "scary" illusions for that? this is how kids grow up to be thieves, other sorts of criminals -if you are caught you feel sorry for yourself, if not....

In order to be a moral human being you need to do thing because you BELIEVE in them, not because you will be punished by someone else..

In law school a friend sat in the first row in front of the teacher and never missed a class. He was docked two grades for not initialing the sign in-sheet. He did not complain about being docked. I told the professor I thought he was out of line. He just smiled and told me what I thought was not relevant.

When students are told to deal with it, it is a way of telling them they are irrelevant.

By the way, my friend is now listed in the publication Top Lawyers in America.

Lady- I wish schools could be like that, but there are always those kids who don't feel bad about anything they do, which could present a possible problem in the future (whatever that may be..) so i guess they think punishment is necessary..

the schools just punish people, and it doesn't matter if you're the nicest person in the world either...you get punished like everyone else. it's fair, but i'm sure it still sucks. whatever lol.

TheByzantine- Hmm, that's a tolerant friend you have there (and impressive too).

And for the record guys, I didn't vote in the poll. Just wanted to be fair.
