What am I paying for? Two more classes cancelled this week, this like the 8th time this semester. Plus one professor is always late; he's never been earlier than 10 minutes late...

I very often ask myself that same question.

My classes are going very well, though. I remember my math professor was absent from his own class--he gave the students instructions to teach ourselves! And the scary thing is that we did teach ourselves (impressive for a group of 18 year-old immature freshmen).

I'm personally a very firm believer in learning outside of the classroom setting. But if you're having a lot of difficulty with incompetent professors, perhaps consider changing classes. Of course, switching to a different school is always an option. Hopefully, though, you can be in a position to feel satisfied with what you're paying for... you, as a "customer," should be reasonably satisfied with the competence of your professors.

Unbelievable....
Same professor canceled class 15 minutes before hand; I have to leave the house before then! I drove 25 miles roundtrip past a wreck and for what! I think the feeling I'm looking for here is livid...

You should speak to the Dean about this professor because the professor is not doing his job. Even if the professor has some personal issues or health issues that are keeping him from class, cancelling class repeatedly should not be an option. He should at least find a substitute to teach for him. Go complain and get what you are paying for!!! And obviously, try to avoid signing up for any more classes with that prof.

This particular professor happens to be my department's chair...
Fortunately I'll never have to take another class with him.
