So I'm resitting a Physics exam I took in January (got a C) and I just can't get into revising for it! I know I need to do well in this beause I already dropped Chemistry this year and if I fail this, I'll probably have to resit the whole year. No bueno. I think it's because I already got a C, I can't work out which things I did wrong last time and need to study (you don't get your exam papers back with your results in my country.) Plus, I'm lulled into a false sense of security because my grade was the 4th highest in the class (The majority got E and U (equivalent to F in the US.) I know, sounds like my school sucks right?)

I can't concentrate sometimes and this time is one of them. But my goodness, I NEED this exam to go well, particularly as I want to do Chemical Engineering in college and in my country, good physics and chemistry grades are a must. And now I won't have chemistry.

Anyone have good concentration methods? Thanks in advance!

First of all... OH GOD, PHYSICS.
That stuff was so hard for me. I love the concept of physics and everything it stands for, but man. It was a hard load of courses.

Often times when I neeeed to learn something in a jiffy, I'll try to make it pertain to my interests. I never concentrate well on anything. Everything can be a major blur to me and I find myself easily distracted on other things that shouldn't matter (the internet, hah).

But, seriously.
I assume since you're taking the damn course and your major is in that general vicinity, you must sort of enjoy it. So try to find a way to make doing it entertaining. Get creative. Sometimes just being creative with something so technical can help. Oh and when nothing else works - caffeine, caffeine, caffeine.

Just be prepared for the crash. Stimulation is great.
Thanks for this!

It has been too many hours since I found your post so I probably can't help with this exam but for me a moderate amount of caffeine helps concentration. Studies show that it helps but some people are sensitive to it so amount varies. Also I would have caffeine before exam.

Don't fret over a course or two. I loved chemistry and did well in my first two classes but in my analytical chem I bogged down and went to the prof for help and he told me that I was bright and was great with the concepts of chemistry but I didn't have the math skills I needed. At that time I thought okay I don't have the math skills so I will do something else but looking back on it now I realize that if I had worked on developing my math skills and got a tutor I could have succeeded even though it would have taken me longer to achieve my goal than "normal". Incidentally I read that something like 60% of people require 5 years to get a 4 year degree. It is a marathon not a sprint.

Well thank you! That's exactly what I did - I recorded myself speaking the notes in a kinda sing-song voice so I wouldn't fall asleep but grasp stuff. So muchas gracias

Haha I was just starting it as you posted this. Oh well, it would still help me for my Thursday exams (maths and bio), if not for the sad fact that I don't tolerate caffeine, haha. I get tremors and had panic attacks in the past, so no siree haha. Well, there's always glucose/dextrose tablets, so thanks for reminding me!

What you said about your own experience is pretty reassuring - thanks for sharing I shall expect it to take me 5 years then!

Haha, no problem. And congrats.
You officially win the creativity award of the week.
Because even I wouldn't have thought of that. Nice.
Thanks for this!
