So I just started my master's degree in Industrial/Organizational psychology and I have been taking one course. This has been okay, but next quarter I will be taking two courses. I am worried about the workload and how it might affect my mental health. I tend to get more manic when I am stressed. I am especially concerned because of the time of year. Winter, when I tend to struggle more than other times of the year.

I guess everyone has to go through this. But you love what you're doing, right? You can take small breaks and do fun things or probably change your way of working. If you can increase your speed and efficiency, the workload won't seem so much.

Well if you're doing your masters you must love what you're doing so just stopping and thinking why you're doing what you're doing might be a good relief. All I can say is; keep your head up, and I wish you the best of luck.

I would suggest taking it slow. Does your course allow you a bit of time where you can still drop a class without penalty? If so, I would suggest trying it for that period and see if you can cope with the workload.
![]() And just take it as slow as you can. I often end up more panicked at certain times of the year so make sure at the beginning of each semester that I get my diary and work out my study load each week (setting regular breaks) so that even when I am not doing so well my study doesn't suffer too much. It also helps me to not get too far behind. |
