It depends on the school in what level/bar they set for admissions; in general, they will primarily look at your overall performance and overall GPA to determine acceptance. The school should have listed for transfer students the minimum required GPA to transfer, to give you a better idea of whether or not to apply. But one failing course, should not be of significant impact for many schools. If there were extenuating circumstance at any point on a transcript, showing fallen grades (such as due to medical, work, or other reasons etc.), an addendum can be added to the application to explain briefly what happened, steps you've taken to show improvement, or to prevent this from happening in the future.
Then once accepted, anything below a certain level such as anything below C's or even B's may not be accepted and will not transfer; there will not be credit for those courses. You can lose valuable credit and time by transferring if grades are not at the same level they require once accepted. Check into that when looking at schools to transfer to in the future so that it is the right fit for your degree and financial plans. Good luck finding the right school for you!

Probably, but you'd have to take Composition over no doubt (which you have to do anyway). I would go to the college you want to transfer to's online site and send an email to someone and ask them what you need to do?

In Europe it works on credit points, i.e each class you take is worth 5 credits, and as long as you pass you get the 5 credits, and to transfer you usually need 30 credits, i.e passed 6 classes, so unless they let you take a compensation test or something I'm not sure.
I'd follow Perna's advice and email them to find out, because if you only failed one they still might let you through. I hope you get what you want in any case.

Simple answer... grades don't matter when you transer. You may just have to retake the class at the new univeristy. Most places you transfer to may not accept all of the credits, check on that before you transfer. At least in the USA

I think you would face the same outcome of redoing the class. Try contacting the admission officers of the other college and ask if they recognize the composition class from the college you currently attend. If they do not, then the F has no bearing and you will have to retake it if you choose so. Alternatively, if they recognize the course in general, it would be in your best interests to re-do it, either during the summer or normal school time because they probably would not recognize the fact you have completed it.
I assume you are in your first year at college, so if you plan to pursue graduate studies or research courses, the F would not hinder you if you improve it simply because it's a first-year course. The exception of course is if you wish to pursue a research course during your second year that is in the field of English or composition. You are always able to indicate whether a grave event occurred during the course that caused the low mark. You would want to consider this especially if your other courses have roughly the same mark. |

Contact the registrar at the college you want to transfer to. Everyone has different policies.
