I'm a college student, and I'm getting to the time in the semester where I REALLY start to lag.

There's about 2 months of the semester left, and I feel like that's a REALLY long time away. I'm starting to slump. Sitting down to study and do my homework is getting harder and harder.

I have a test on Thursday that I REALLY need to study for, and I know I'll just have a meltdown if I get less than an A on it.

A little encouragement could really help

Hey, you know what's a fun way to study? Making flashcards!

Check out Mnemosyne!

There are much worse things in life than not getting an A on an exam. It's Spring, and entirely normal for the mind to wander. Sit outside if you can and soak up the season. Think of past experiences when you stressed about something, and think of the outcome. Did it come out OK? Well it will this time too.

I can relate-- I couldn't even contemplate not getting As a year ago. I've always struggled with ADHD and a learning disability, a whole lot when I was in elementary school, so once I finally could work, I had to do it all perfectly. I'm a junior in college now.

But you know something---Perfection is just NOT sustainable. It's draining, overwhelming, anxiety-producing, and dissatisfying. If you keep seeking it, you're setting yourself up to feel bad. Do what you can do, and work on letting that be enough. Do what you're capable of--at the time you're doing it. Take breaks. Reward yourself for sticking in there. And if it's just not working, then STOP. Take a break. Try again a little later.

The best advice I ever got was from my freshman year roommate: "Sometimes, you just have to say screw it!"

And you know what? It's quite a thrilling challenge. Hang in there :].
