It's really hard being blind and going to college. The disability coordinator sometimes doesn't know how to handle your accomidations or doesn't get your material on time. They don't have the proper equiptment meant for the blind.

That is a huge problem. They are legally required to make those accommodations. Is there an academic dean you could speak with about the problem? Go see them, armed with a list of what you need and be ready to back yourself up with legal mandates.

I had the same problem when I lost my vision, but my university got its **** together once I did that.

I was just friends with a blind student and I think that was helpful to her. Maybe you could make yourself a little support system, have your own friends in each class that might help with studying with you/making sure you have notes and get to class, etc.? If it is a residential university (like I went to), I was in a dorm and I think my friend lived off campus/at home and it was great she knew me because she had a friendly place to "go" sometimes in between classes, etc.

Wow what kind of technology do you use to get online and post here? I think that's wonderful!

I can't imagine how hard that would be.
Hopefully you can get an advocate who can make sure they treat you right, so you can get the same rights and education as someone without a visual impairment.

Good luck.

There are computer programs that read out text on screen. Mine sounds like Steven Hawking.

Im visually impaird/legally blind also, but I go to a school that has an abundance of visually impaired and blind students, Western Michigan University, and the Michigan Commission for the Blind is also within the same city, and trains grad students going into blind studies out of our university. Idk why your school is not that good with their disabilities office, but maye you can help them and give them advice on how to better suit the needs of yourself and students like yourself. That would be my best advice to give you on that subject, and don't forget there are outside resources that can help you also.

My issue in school isn't so much my vision, by this point Im so used to that I know how to accomedate my needs. My issue is my mental health state, andit's effects

Take care
