Well I've had a week to do lots of homework for a class today. I did none of it before last night. And I still haven't completed it. I started to freak out and was frantically trying to rectify it. I got so scared that I realised that I was skipping my first class, which starts now, but I'm still at home in my pyjamas.
Arrrrgghh. I just want to know if there are people like me, in college or university or school whatever that do this because I feel so alone and helpless. I'm going to talk to my psychologist next time I see her and my mum is trying to help me keep on top of all my homework so I am getting help. But I just need to know that I'm not a complete failure and there are people like me! My mum actually just texted me and asked if I got to college okay, hopefully she won't be too mad at me later. |

I have the same issue. I had ADHD and anxiety, which is a bad combo... I put things off, and then when I do, I get so anxious that I can't concentrate anyway. So it's like you can't win. I am working with a therapist for the anxiety, and the learning specialist at school with organization, planning, etc. I think talking to your psychologist is a great idea. I also think you should talk to the school counselor or whatever there is, if you are going te miss school at lot... bc that way, maybe you can get more time or an excused late slip or something, so they understand that you are working on it and that it isnt due to being a flakey student.

AS a former college student and professor, I can tell you you're not alone! It might help to break up the assignments into reasonable amounts of material and tackle each one over a reasonable period of time.

Oh my gosh thank goodness I just saw this post. I feel the same way!!! I am totally freaking out and can't focus on any of the work I need to do even though I rationally know that it's doable. I think it's an anxiety thing. I'm actually going to email my professor to ask for an extension just so to alleviate the anxiety I'm feeling right now - it's out of control.
You are not alone and it's good that you're getting help. I see my psychiatrist tomorrow so hopefully we'll figure something out. Let's you and I conquer this! |

I haven't had it to that extent. My procrastination is more in when I get on a project that I find to be AMZAING and just totally forget that I even have any other work to do. I mean, just this week I've missed three assignments for my Psych 101 class and they were right in front of my on my wall the whole time.
