Next school year I will be 15. I'm not sure yet if I will be in 10th or 11th grade. But either way I am going to a new school.

I have already been accepted to a good private school. I have many friends there already so I really want to go there. That's where my mom wants me to go.

But my dad is a stubborn *****. And just wants to make life hard for my mom and I. He doesn't like us... He wants to put me in public school because it is cheaper. Therefor he can have more money to blow on his lake house that he wants to force us to move to. (And by lake house, I mean trailer house next to fish poopy water) obviously I don't want to move there...

I probably sound like a spoiled brat. But I just want to get a good education so I can move out as fast as possible and be able to support myself. My dad just wants to get it over with so he can leave us. I don't mind him leaving because he is abusive in many ways... But I just don't like that he is setting me up for failure. And I don't have a say in it.

I think I should be able to at least have a say in this, right?

But no, I don't even have the right to speak. If I don't do something perfect, exactly the way he wants it then I get punished for life. He is NEVER happy with anything.

I'm sure this sounds like no big deal to you, but it's one of those things where you have to be there to feel the pain.

Every night, I think of how I'm going to end it. Every night I lay in bed wondering what would happen if I left. I have a violent thought process now... I did use to be messed up. And my dad started it all. He started the warping of me.

Anyway... I'm super off topic...
My point is...

My mom and I want me to go to Private school.
But my dad doesn't, and he always gets his way.

So......
1) I'm scared of public schools.
So should I be preparing to cope with my worst nightmare?

2) I'm afraid if I stand up to my dad I will end up with bruises.
So should I stay quiet?

3) I tend to see the worst scenario in everything.
So should I just forget about it?
Am I worrying too much?

I don't know what to do. This is just one of the many problems racing through my mind right now...

PLEASE help me. Just a comment or anything would lift my spirits.
It's hard being different

How much influence does your mom have over your dad?

Hi GirlOfManyFaces,
I've read part of your post and I
just couldn't wait to reply.
I want to offer you my advice.
You & Your Mom are absolutely right.
Public school SUCKS!!
As an older & ever so wiser woman I can tell
you that Public school is a nightmare.
I attended way back when & it was HORRIBLE.
No matter how intelligent a child or teen is going to
a bad school in my opinion can spell disaster for a child or teen of
academic promise.
It did for me. I was neglected went to a crappy school were the kids were
no better than zoo animals. It was crazy!
It set the stage for major depression for me, that & all the chaos that was happening at home.
No I don't think your spoiled. You seem like a together young woman. Now is the time to prepare for a bright future by going to THE RIGHT SCHOOL.
Its really important!
Now today in 21st Century America public school is so much worse! Back when I went kids were bullied, lunch was stolen, or you got beat up for your lunch money even extorted to bring say 1.00 which to me was a lot of money cause I was real poor.
Now its worse. I hate it and I'm a grown up.
Okay enough on my views on public school
Possible solutions I have no idea if they will help but here goes:
1.) Reach out & contact some teen support lines in your area. Look some up on Google
2.) Is there any way you can apply for ...I don't know what the proper term is but here goes Student Aid? You know plead your case fill out the necessary forms, explain how awful it is. When it comes to your future go all out.
3.) A scholarship?
4.) Theres a national hotline for teens called Boystown don't worry they help girls too. Heard some good stuff about them. Their website is Boystown.org

That's it for now, how I know or have an idea of the Student aid was watching that movie Scent Of A Woman (which I now hate) where the young Chris O'Donell played a prep school boy attending a really Elite prep school on Aid.
I really wish you the best.
Don't fall off the deep end reach out for help. There is a lot out there on the Web for teens. And I'm confident that you can get help to fulfill your education dreams. It sounds like you've got great potential & thus willing to work hard to get what you want. That's good.
Don't want you to end up drifting through life like I had.
It all starts NOW for you.
So don't give up.
Instead REACH OUT!
I'm sure that there is some kind of solution to get you to that private school.
Also private school has its downside, mostly some not so nice girls but you can circumvent them.
Good luck!
Thanks for this!

PS
Another alternative but I don't know if its what you'd want to do but here
it is I'll toss this idea in for you.
A local Charter school I've heard great things about them.
But try your first choice.
